A statue outside OUR HOME??? we NEED one

I was wondering after reading an article of Burwells, Who would you like to see outside the dome from that special 99 year

Personally i think that we should have one, just near the Dury INN as you enter the dome...

    any ideas

    .........Warner for me...

but whatabout Faulk........or........the 'catch' made that got us to the SB or the 'Tackle'???... How about that famous picture of Kurt and Vermeil together with the SB trophy...

thoughts...... the dome needs this HISTORY.....

Warner throwing the bomb on the final TD of the Superbowl?
    or
    The Tackle? (Mike Jones)

Well, Warner and Faulk are the obvious choices, but I'm more personally disappointed in something else in the stadium that unfortunately won't change. I dislike the fact that the names of old St. Louis Cardinals adorn the inside ring of honor alongside Rams luminaries like Jack Youngblood and Merlin Olsen. While those responsible for this set up may have had their hearts in the right place, their heads were out to lunch. THIS IS THE RAMS BUILDING and should reflect as such. Cardinals players of the past should be honored in the stadium in Phoenix. You don't see names of the old Cleveland Rams in the Browns ring of honor, do you?

And speaking objectively and as one who's seen 15 stadiums in person, the Rams have one of the ugliest stadiums in football- not distinguished or aesthetically pleasing in the least. It's really too bad, because I'd love to see the Rams with a beautiful, state of the art building with tributes to the great history of this franchise.. It will take a lot more than a statue to spruce up the place, but it would be a start.

a statue of Warner passing it to Faulk on a screen pass, with the ball barely going into Faulk's hands and him doing that signature "bouncy" step like he's getting ready to make a cut..now of course the statues would be about 12-14 feet apart so people would be able to walk in between them..

Now if Arizona got a statue of Warner too that'd piss me off..

I think as of this moment it has to be Faulk.

Why not multiple statues? I like your placement of the first one, but what about one on the other "front" side of the dome?

That way you could have unorthodox's Kurt and Marshall at one, and I'll throw out the Torry and Az Hakim Touchdown Run as the other. And I'm sure they could find a place for "The Tackle"

I like the idea of having two statues, but I was thinking of Warner going deep to Bruce. Warner would have his arm back to throw, and Bruce would be in mid-sprint.

"The Tackle" would also make a great statue and a good symbol for doing everything it takes to win until the final whistle blows.

Probably ... The Tackle. That last play that capped our SB XXXIV victory is such a Ram icon.

I figure that Warner, Marshall, Bruce and other Rams supertars of then and now, and further into our past, already have their moment of fame. A low key player like Mike Jones, making such a dramatic move to freeze such a memorable stop and secure our 1st SB would be a real tribute to the Rams organization.

    Historic, elegant, action packed.

I would put up a statue of Dez. It can have the special elongated bronze attachment to appropriately portray the TRUE Loch Ness Monster.

Just as I found it impossible to answer that poll about which element of the "99 GSOT was indispensable, I can't say I'd be satisfied with a statue of just one player or moment from that magical team.

I'd like an obelisk reminiscent of the Lombardi trophy topped by a Rams helmet with Gehrke's horn swirl -in bronze so individual preferences about which colors are the "real" ones could be avoided & a helmet rather than a a literal ram's head; I've yet to see an actual sheep's head that satisfied/stirred my heart but the swirl is unique & forever and crosses all generations of fans .

Each of the four sides could be devoted to the different aspects of the team that contributed to the ultimate triumph; one each for offense, defense, staff/FO/owner, and the fourth for the special moments-of which there are so many, that made that season indelible. Bas relief plaques, little alcoves/niches for busts and mini statues, and lists of all the individual names, etc, could all be incorporated.

Jackie Slater gets my vote. Any O lineman that plays for 20 years on the same team deserves it.

I think if there were to be a statue placed outside the Dome it would have to be of a player from the 99 years and no one before then. The great thing about a statue would be the start of football roots and tradition in St.Louis, and it's alot easier for St.Louis fans to connect with the 99 years than the LA years. Not to say that statues of players from prior to 99 couldn't be added later, but the first should be something that will help connect the Rams to St.Louis and begin building a hard tradition.

WE NEED A STATUE OF THE BOB AND WEAVE. I saw that bob-n-weave on the superbowl 34 replay they had on NFL network. By far the sweetest TD celebration. The league had to ruin our fun.

There should be Marshall, torry, ike, Hakim all doin the bob-n-weave
