    Steussie Breaks Foot

    Rams vs. Chiefs: Third Quarter
    Thursday, August 30, 2007

In injury news, safety Andre Kirkland suffered a hyper extended left knee and his return is questionable. Tackle Todd Steussie suffered a foot injury and went to the locker room for x rays.

Updating Steussie’s condition, he suffered a broken left foot in the second quarter.

Well, that means he is going on IR and is out for the year. That really stinks. However, looking at the glass half full, its the only significant injury we had for the entire preseason. The biggest problem of course is that we dont have a legitimate backup tackle now. Goldberg was terrible last year when he played tackle.

They almost made it through without injury.

6-8 weeks? Let's just pray none of the starting tackles go down.

Tough break. Dang, no pun intended.
    [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]Maybe not now, but soon.

if its 6-8 weeks, that would be ok under the circumstances.. If he is not out for the year, that would be great. I will say this, if thats the only real injury for the entire preseason, we did pretty good.

I hate that for him, but I was hoping that we wouldn't need him anyway this season (that would mean Pace or Barron are hurt/struggling). He's great depth, so I'd love him back sooner rather than later, assuming he does not end up on IR.
Moore got hurt tonight as well, but no info on it.

*Slowly shaking my head* I hope it is not as serious as it sounds.

Todd, get well SOON [as soon as possible to come back strong]!

    Re: Steussie Breaks Foot

From the Rams Official website, Thursday 08-30-07:

STEUSSIE AILING: Stepping in at left tackle for Orlando Pace, Todd Steussie came limping off the field in the second quarter. X-rays confirmed that Steussie fractured his left foot on. It looks as if Steussie will miss six to eight weeks and will more than likely be put on the Physically Unable to Perform (P.U.P.) list. If Steussie is placed on P.U.P., he will be forced to miss at least the first six weeks of the season.

“Certainly he is that swing tackle for us without the injury,” Linehan said. “Now, we have to look at some options which fortunately we have put ourselves in some good depth situations, so we have some options.

Linehan said that tackle Adam Goldberg would likely fill in for Steussie, but that guard Milford Brown would also be playing a little at the tackle position.

“You can’t really replace his leadership and all his years of playing time, but we do have some players that can fill in for him,” Linehan said.

PS: Todd will probably be ready right after bye week. I hope!
