Steve Savard: Field Notes
08:52 AM CDT on Friday, August 12, 2005
Steve Savard, News 4 Sports Director
8/12/05
The Rams' selection of Alex Barron in April's draft was supposed to solidify the offensive line. But with Barron's holdout and a number of injuries, the Rams are scrambling to mix and match up front again. It will really help if rookie Claude Terrell plays as well as expected. He could be a fixture at left guard for a long time
A prediction: some Rams will miss the old turf at the Dome. This new Fieldturf is softer and safer but isn't nearly as fast as the old surface. In time, they'll adjust.
The Rams could be ridiculously big at fullback this year. Tight end Brandon Manumaleuna (285 pounds) will see some time there and seventh round pick Madison Hedgecock (266) will get an opportunity to make the team in pre season.
My broadcast partner Jack Snow, who caught 340 passes in his career, is very impressed with rookie wide receiver Dante Ridgeway. He likes his hands and his size. Ridgeway caught 105 passes last season at Ball State. You can hear Snowman and me call the games on KLOU, 103.3 and KTRS, the big 550.

"Go, go big tight ends!" --Inspector RamgadgetThe Rams could be ridiculously big at fullback this year. Tight end Brandon Manumaleuna (285 pounds) will see some time there and seventh round pick Madison Hedgecock (266) will get an opportunity to make the team in pre season.
We've got two big lead blockers at 290 and 270 pounds. ...And one excited RB starter in Steve Jackson. The left side of the OL is set with Pace and Terrell ('Thank you Claude').
If we could only establish that nagging right side T position. :football:
