Steve Smith

During yesturdays game I found myself wishing we had someone like Steve Smith, maybe 2 dozen times. If Bradford had a target like Smith, he could put up pro-bowl numbers the second half of the season. Watching Smith consistently come free almost every play was painful, but made me hopeful for next year that the front office might actually pursue a true #1 in the off-season.

Our poor recievers were blanketed most of the game, but did make a few good plays despite that. Oh well, heres hoping for next year.

Makes me wonder what Bradford would be like if he had Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce.

I think a large part of that is our DB's..

agreed it was painful, I think it was what.. 2 or 3 times he was either A)Wide open in the endzone, or B) just wide open period. I'm just glad that Moore sucks to much to turn his head a little to the left or right.

I hate Steve Smith. Talented guy for sure, no class at all. Multiple incidents punching out his own teammates and constant whining on the field. I loved when the ball hit him in the face and he missed it.

We will get a #1 receiver. We have come a long way as a team in a short period of time. It doesnt happen overnight (notwithstanding 1999!)

This is where my lack of football knowledge will definitly show.

I think it is more about our coverage than our players in some cases.

I'm guessing it is the difference between man and zone...

But it seems to me that we have a guy covering one of their receivers and when he cuts to cross the field our guy holds up because the receiver is heading into the area of someone else on the d. Basically leaving the receiver wide open for a second in between two defenders. And a second is all it takes if the qb and receiver have chemistry.

Steve Smith seems to always have a good day against the Rams. But he's a pro-bowl WR for a reason, and any day you can keep him out of the end-zone is a successful day. I do agree that Matt Moore had something to do with that too though.

But, I also think the secondary did a very good job against the Panther's two lofty rookie WRs.

Brandon LaFell - 11 rec - 174 yds - 44 yds longest - 0 TD

In their seventh game vs. Rams
David Gettis - 0 rec - 0 yards - 0 yds longest - 0 TD
Brandon LaFell - 4 rec - 40 yds - 17 yds longest - 1 TD

So, except for the four missed tackles on LaFell's 17 yd TD reception, they shut them down.

Now if only this D would travel well.

I saw Steve smith drop a couple passes for big gains and give up a key fumble. Not to mention he's made of glass. Pick up R. Moss!!
