Steven Jackson becomes a dad!
Proud papa Steven Jackson will be back Sunday with St. Louis Rams
By Jim Thomas
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Just about everything running back Steven Jackson does or says as a St. Louis Rams seems to be topic for discussion in Rams Nation. But it looks like he had a very good reason to miss the first week of the team’s offseason conditioning program.
Jackson stayed in Las Vegas last week as his girlfriend gave birth to a baby boy. Jackson is expected back in St. Louis on Sunday evening and will report for the team’s offseason conditioning program next week.

Re: Steven Jackson becomes a dad!
Congrats to the Big Boy. Noting the reference to his "girlfriend" lets hope that this isnt round 1 of the travis henry plan.

Re: Steven Jackson becomes a dad!
So he missed the voluntary meeting to witness the birth of his first child...I wonder if any of the people that bashed him in the other thread will be man enough to admit they were wrong once again....I doubt it.
And welcome to fatherhood Steven, your life is forever changed...for the better!Last edited by RamFan_Til_I_Die; -03-21-2009 at 04:57 AM. Reason: Coluntary? lol

Good job SJ, Congrat! I'm a father of 3 great boys, it's the greatest feeling on earth becoming a dad!

Re: Steven Jackson becomes a dad!
Amazing how some of you all wanted to hang the guy for missing mini-camps earlier in the week. How do you feel now about your comments now??
Congrats SJ!! Nothing as special as being a dad!

Re: Steven Jackson becomes a dad!
I think that anyone who criticized Jackson without knowing the facts is now obligated to wear a shirt with the words "I'm An Enormous Douche" in bold print.
Of course, instead they'll probably try to make this about something else. I can just see it now... some brainiac will argue that its not a true "family issue" because Jackson isn't married. Or they'll say he should have notified the team when he first learned of the approximate due date (never mind the fact that Spagnuolo wasn't the coach then). Or maybe they'll just fall back on the typical "he's injury prone" critique.
What people like that don't get is that Jackson would be the opening day starter at RB on the vast majority of teams in the NFL. The Rams are fortunate to have him.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Next step: become a deserving ProBowler in 2009. Let's get some BIG numbers Jax to honor baby / family / Rams.

Re: Steven Jackson becomes a dad!
Congratulations to daddy Steven. Im sure he'll excel at changing diapers with the good hands he possesses and be able to find the open holes and make the cuts needed to make it to the trash bin.

Re: Steven Jackson becomes a dad!
Gee whiz, who does this guy think he is. you cant just skip minicamps. IMO thats plain selfish. We dont want his mind on procreation, we want him to think about football. Just another example of how this guy is totally not dedicated 2 this franchize. If your going to have babies have them when your football career is over and your good and sterile. him missing team meetings is just another step in the wrong direction and we'll suffer for it come the season opener.

Re: Steven Jackson becomes a dad!
Av, i agree with you completely, but name one team on which he wouldnt be a starter. To put it another way, when people criticize jackson, i would love to know which nfl running back or backs they would rather have than him. All around, he is about as good as it gets and i dont think that there is a single guy that is clearly better than him if you combine the running and passing skills.
The jackson critics are a lot like the bulger critics. They ignore the reality of the need for an effective offensive line for skill players to flourish.
