Steven Jackson Leaning Towards Retirement?
" Roland Williams says on our radio show today that he's hearing#stlrams RB Steven Jackson is leaning towards retirement"
- Andy Strickland
Steven did say he'd rather leave the game wanting more than leave it on the downside (like Barry Sanders). I wouldn't be too dissapointed if he retired. He may not have even been the best RB on our OWN team last year, plus I couldn't stand to see him in another uniform. I guess we'll see where he goes with it, but someone I'd keep my eye on for a potential replacement (not that I've lost any hope in Pead/Drich) is Stanfords Stepfan Taylor.
Re: Steven Jackson Leaning Towards Retirement?
If he retires that will just make a hard decision easy in terms of whether or not to retain him.
Re: Steven Jackson Leaning Towards Retirement?
I think Jackson can still play. I think the main thing will be the money. I would love him to finish his career at the Rams
Re: Steven Jackson Leaning Towards Retirement?
I think he doesn't want to play anywhere but St Louis and is using this as a negotiation tactic for a 1-2 year deal to get more money
Re: Steven Jackson Leaning Towards Retirement?
Darryl Richardson did a good job for a while, then tapered off, and Pead didn't show anything his first year. I hope Sjax stays because I don't think we have a RB who can carry the load for a full season on the roster. Then again, I haven't looked into the RBs in this year's draft yet.
Re: Steven Jackson Leaning Towards Retirement?
only one man can know how his body feels after that season, so if he says he wants to retire, so be it. BUT I would love for him to come back :)
Re: Steven Jackson Leaning Towards Retirement?
Jim Thomas was asked in a recent chat whether or not he thought Jackson would be back. His response was: "I'm going to say 55-45 he's not back."
I have no idea how Jim arrived at his conclusion, but if I was betting, I'd bet he will return. I think he is capable of playing another 2 years at a high level, and wants a chance at a championship. How many genuine "Championship" teams are there who would want or need him right now?
I think he tests the market as a FA, and then works out a deal with the Rams. It is obvious he is happy with Fisher/Snead and he won't have to guess about his role should he re-sign with the Rams. We played a team that is in this year's Superbowl twice this season, and that team couldn't beat us. We will be even better next year ..
Re: Steven Jackson Leaning Towards Retirement?
No way is he retiring. Someone is negotiating!

WOW! I have him at 53-47 he returns! :)
Re: Steven Jackson Leaning Towards Retirement?
Jackson was our best RB last year. Richardson proved to be a nice pick up for a 7th round pick but i think because of it he get`s over rated by some. if he had been taken before day 3 of the draft i`d be dissappointed in the pick.
if Jax retires we need to pick a RB up in the draft..i hope he doesn`t retire and hope he stays playing for us for atleast another year.

I don't think he would do that. If SJ actually said that, it was what he is thinking. If he wants to go on a high note, now or next year will be the time.
Re: Steven Jackson Leaning Towards Retirement?
Only Jackson really knows. If a guy like tony Gonzalez can retire while still playing at a very high level, anything is possible and SJ's body has taken a lot of physical beatings. I can see not being crazy about another off-season of work, camp, etc.
Now, if SJ can blown all of his money since getting into the NFL, problem solved and no retirement ;)
