Re: Steven Jackson Wants us to Pick An OL with 2nd Pick.
We wouldn't need to trade our 2nd or 1st next year to draft Jake Long, if he were to fall, he'd fall to 5th-11th. We could easily trade our first rounder for a 5th-11th and 2nd/3rd rounder to go along with that.

if we do go D-line with chris long, would he start over james hall, or even leonard little? and if we took jake long, surely he wouldnt start over Orlando pace or.. welll, i don't know. maybe he would over alex barron. we Shall see what We Do.

Re: Steven Jackson Wants us to Pick An OL with 2nd Pick.
that wouldnt happen because we draft second and we would never know where jake would fall. the strategy i mentioned was used by the niners last year. you pick second and you trade next years first round pick and possibly this years second round pick for another teams first round pick this year. i doubt this will happen though unless jake falls 10+.

Re: Steven Jackson Wants us to Pick An OL with 2nd Pick.
I seriously think that the rams draft Jake Long at #2 unless a trade is made. I would be ok with this even if he didnt start because no-one knows what the go is with Paces injury and hes getting older and with Barrons troubles he could be a smart pick for the 09/10 seasons. Then again you could make the same case for L.Little+J.Hall with Chris Long

Re: Steven Jackson Wants us to Pick An OL with 2nd Pick.
If the Dolphins can't trade out of the top spot, Chris Long could be a serious candidate for that pick. With Chris off the board, I think the Rams give serious consideration to Jake Long or another OT if they rise up the boards (Clady maybe). While a lot of people favor the best player available draft strategy, it would be pretty hard to consider someone like Dorsey or even Ellis when Carriker was just drafted as a DT last year, though I think Ellis may be more versatile. Can you justify spending a second overall pick on a RB when you have Jackson? When it comes down to it, best player available won't be much help if the players available are all at positions where you really don't need elite help. That makes an offensive lineman very intriguing.

Re: Steven Jackson Wants us to Pick An OL with 2nd Pick.
Jackson sounds pumped, I like that.
I'd also like it if I knew Pace could come back 100% for next year. If he's back, I think our offense will be about where it was SUPPOSE to be for this year.

Re: Steven Jackson Wants us to Pick An OL with 2nd Pick.
if Chris Long goes 1st overall, then the Rams will trade down a few spots with a team that covets the RB

Re: Steven Jackson Wants us to Pick An OL with 2nd Pick.
Depending on free agency, I think rams should draft 1-3-5 offense and 2-4-6 defense.
1. o-line
2. d-back (safety)
3. speed receiver
4. d-line (rushing specialist)
5. bruising fullback
6. linebacker (special teams help)

I say draft Chris Long...and if Jeff Otah falls or maybe Chris Williams out of Vanderbilt.

I really think the Dolphins will trade out of that pick and we will be able to draft Chris Long if we choose to do so,if any team trades up it will be to get McFadden, but of course it's the draft so anything can happen.

Re: Steven Jackson Wants us to Pick An OL with 2nd Pick.
I really doubt there's going to be a safety available that's worth taking with the 34th pick in the draft, which is where we pick in the second round. Additionally, we need more than just a rush specialist at defensive end; we need a potential full time starter.
It's going to be tough for them to trade out of that spot, though. Getting anything close to equal value for that pick is going to be just about impossible. Most people think the Cowboys and their two first round picks present the best change for a trade, but even when you total the value of all of Dallas' picks this year, it's not even worth two thirds of Miami's top overall selection. So how is a team going to make up the value difference?

They are also throwing in Marion Barber.

Re: Steven Jackson Wants us to Pick An OL with 2nd Pick.
Every runningback in the NFL pulls himself out of games when they get gassed. Jackson is a confident guy and I dont even remember Faulk making statements like you want Jackson to make. Why would ha say I hope my o-line stays healthy so the offense can make plays I think that is a given. Also hoping to be healthy himself is a given. I feel bad for any player that follows a superstar for the Rams because no matter what they do or say it gets scrutinized.
