Steven Jackson's Production Is Remarkable
Steven Jackson has 451 yards rushing after 5 games. This places him 4th in the NFL, only 36 yards behind current league leader Cedric Benson (yeah, I was surprised that he was first too).
Think about that for a minute.
The Rams have had virtually no passing game.
Their first round pick, Jason Smith, has played less than 2 full games.
There has been no help from any "change of pace" back.
Frankly, there is no reason why Jackson should be able to produce under these conditions. And yet, here he is, fourth in the NFL in rushing (with a respectable 4.3 ypc average, I might add).
The guy is just that good. Hopefully, he'll stay healthy until the O line starts to really come together and the passing game improves (next year, perhaps).
Until then, Rams fans should be thankful to have this guy.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: Steven Jackson's Production Is Remarkable
i agree complety, Jackson has 451 yards rushing even when the rams are getting blown out and are forced to pass more instead of run the ball. What Jasckon has brought this year is more consitency he averages 90 yards a game, and he gets around that every game. i hope he breaks his carrer best from 2006, but jackson will need a more stable offense to score more touchdowns, and recieving yards. Every rams fan should be so thanful to have him, instead of talking about trading him or complaing about his ego. he is the only good things that happen on sundays.

Re: Steven Jackson's Production Is Remarkable
I have always felt great full to have SJ as our back. He is incredible and has been throughout his career with us. The problem is we can't seem to build a team around him worthy of taking any attention away from him. A few years back when he had 2200 all purpose yards you could see how amazing this guy is. As much as I feel bad that he has to waste the prime of his career in our rebuilding stage I just hope that our team comes together before its too late for him and he doesn't get the reward he deserves - SB!!!

I feel sorry for Steven Jackson. He's going to be wasting his best years on a lousy team much like Sanders did with the Lions.

Re: Steven Jackson's Production Is Remarkable
I agree on the Steven Jackson front. I keep waiting for the one game where the defense stacks up against him and he struggles to get anywhere. That week has yet to come. The guy has come out of the gates running hard and has given a great effort.

The Cedric Benson thing is more remarkable. I would expect this from Steven Jackson because Rams fans know just how good he is but Cedric Benson leading the league in rushing? I thought he would have a breakout year considering how he and the Bengals ended last season but first in rushing with all of the great RB's in the NFL right now is somewhat remarkable for someone initially considered to be a bust.

I'm glad he's getting the stats.
Once our offense can be more disciplined and better at the passing game, which we showed the latter yesterday, we can be a dangerous team.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Devaney, if you care about this team... fire the offensive coordinator!!!!

Re: Steven Jackson's Production Is Remarkable
He might be untouchable to you, but if there was to be a fire sale next year(no cap=no penalties), I would be open to trading him if the right deal came along. I wouldn't go looking to trade him, as I think he'll be the centerpiece of our revival, however, if we could get a first, second and maybe a couple players for him, I'd listen.
I believe!
