Stopping the run
I may be wrong but being ranked number 29th against the run last year should mean stopping the run needs to be a priority.
So assuming we wait for the second round to pick an OT which player would better help us stop the run.
Curry or Raji?
I've been a fan of picking Raji but I realized I should be a fan of picking the best player to help stop the run. Since I don't have a great football mind I'm asking everyone here... who would help improve our chances of stopping the run the most?

Re: Stopping the run
I could see a DT in the draft mix,for sure. I like Carriker & Ryan but Glover has to be done so we need depth at the very least. And bigger depth to help keep big backs & Olers from killing our LBs & safeties ,esp later in the game.
Who knows what this Antwon Burton guy will bring to the table. His draft reports indicate that he could be a solid widebody if coached up. Like a Colin Cole.

Re: Stopping the run
I've only seen Curry on u tube and dude looks scary. But he'll have some growing pains just like every other rookie. Maybe by mid season we'll start to see him adapt to the speed of the NFL. It'll be a rough ride in the beginning but if we draft him, we'll be glad we did in the long run.

Re: Stopping the run
Curry would make a major impact in two ways. First, by his own play. Second, by allowing Witherspoon to move to the weak side.
That said, the Rams absolutely need another big body to challenge Ryan at the NT spot, or at least rotate with him. Ron Brace is a good candidate in the second round.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: Stopping the run
I would have to agree on looking for help to stop the run early. Curry would go along way in doing that.

Re: Stopping the run
Ilike curry he would just be a great addition with long and carriker. I think in round 2 we go ot or wr who ever is the best available at that spot. I think we should go after tank johnson in free agency for the dt spot

Aaron Curry for me... we need another stud at the LB position to compliment will.

Re: Stopping the run
I like Raji out of Boston College also. I don't think you take a LB#2 overall(Curry). However with our drafts at DT I can not help but be shakeing(quiver).

Re: Stopping the run
I'd go with Curry/Brace in this scenario.
Curry because he may be the safest pick in the draft, could contribute at SAM for sure, probably at MIKE and perhaps most importantly, brings the most intangibles to the party of all of them.
This defense lacks strong leadership. So does the offense, but that's another story. They desperately needs a field general on that side of the ball. I think Long is going to bring strong leadership in his own right, but I don't see him as ever being the QB of the defense. Curry would be that to go along with his many other talents and abilities.
The only question in my mind with Curry is do you take a LB at #2 overall? I wouldn't take Raji there though, so if you're looking defense, I guess I'd have to go with Curry with that pick.

Re: Stopping the run
Hornit - the D may HAVE lacked leadership, but given Spoon, Long, Bell and Bartell, that may not be the issue (if) it once was.
I'm just not hot on a LB at 2 either. Looking back, other than Urlacher, I don't see any premium LBs having an impact worth their spot in the draft. A. J. Hawk for example, comes to mind, as well as the LB for the *****, (whose name escapes me at the moment).
Rather have Raji or an OT.

Re: Stopping the run
I still think the D lacks the QB on that side of the ball it needs. Long could be that, but I think it's preferable to have that guy in the middle of your defense. Bartell, don't see it. Spoon couldn't deal with having the radio in his helmet to call the defensive signals in the huddle, so he's not it.
Willis is the guy for the Niners.
I think Curry would be that QB of the defense that they need, with Long providing strong leadership as well. Everything I've read and seen about Curry says he is the defensive version of Matt Ryan from last year's draft. Smart, stickler for preparation, gym rat, super dedicated leader and doesn't accept failure. That kind of thing just can't be overestimated IMO.
