    Re: T.J. McDonald Making Progress

I thought this might be the one instance where the subject of the thread wasn't immediately bashed for not playing up to a fans opinion. Certainly McDonald, who has only played in 4 games and is a rookie, wouldn't draw all the same criticism that other players on this board have been getting.

    Boy was I wrong.

Guys, this is getting a little ridiculous. Seriously, the first statement was about how he's not the answer at safety?! He played 4 games.

Maybe we can try centering discussions around something other than negativity, just for a little while.

For instance, I think it will be great for McDonald to be able to get in some time before the season ends. He would really benefit from the experience of our defense playing at such a high level.

McDonald is only young and played pretty well considering. I think the more playing time he gets this year the better he will be.

I think Mcdonald starts right away again but has Stewart played poorly? McCloud has been up and down, I love his versatility in his game. It would be nice in our dime package to have an option to play 3 safeties on the field

Yes, I am comfortable making that assertion. Good run defense is not solely based on 1 player. Demarco Murray and Frank Gore got their yardage in the 2 worst games we've played this year. I don't think anyone would argue with that. Since TJ's injury we've also allowed Arian Foster and Chris Johnson to have amongst their best games of the season. Would AF and CJ not complied those stats with TJ playing, I don't know? But I do know that we've gotten Jo Lon Dunbar back, Michael Brockers has stepped up his lane clogging skills and TJ is a smart player who is learning quickly, so I'm simply stating that his return will contribute to a better run defense. The next 2 games with Matt Forte and Frank Gore in the backfield will answer that pretty definitively for me.

    Go Rams!
