Re: talking with a Charger fan about our past drafts.

I pretty sure you can make a good list of 1st and 2nd round busts, using your criteria, with any team from the last 10 years. For example, taking the Jets at random:

Gholston, Vilma, Robertson, Santana Moss, Becht, Jon McGraw, Justin Miller, Mike Nugent, Kellen Clemens.

That's 9 (arguably) busts from Superbowl contenders. I'm not saying the Rams didn't draft badly I'm just saying that many teams have forgettable draft picks.

Pisa, Barron, Archuleta, no way these players are busts ...

Nor is Avery, such a stupid argument. You really think Desean Jackson would have been productive here the past two years? Think with your football brain for a minute ...

Re: talking with a Charger fan about our past drafts.

Folks, really, are we arguing that the Rams have had horrendous record of less then stellar drafts or are we arguing the suspects. Realistically, at 1-15 something went drastically awry in previous drafts. We have had horrible drafts and as such, we are in the cellar. Who what where, who cares. We are the worst team in football for two years running. Coaching, drafting, front office all guilty. From here though, really nowhere but up. Even 2-14 is an improvement, sad to say.

Apparently the term "bust" does not have a universally accepted definition.

Yea, your probably right on D Jackson. He would be under valued on this team.

Nick has already mentioned it, but let's keep the discussion civil. If you disagree with someone, make your case with arguments, not insults.

lol sure we have terrible drafts and terrible records that reflect on terrible management based on the sins of the previous regime.

    But we have this:

And that when we're given playoff opportunities, we actually play through very well and not do really pathetic mistakes with our previous talents such as Tomlinson wimping out when he bruised his left knee against the Patsies during the '08 playoffs while Rivers manned up and played with a torn ACL. And let us not forget Nate Kaeding who missed three FGs after a perfect season who then tries to kill himself but missed kicking the chair.

Would you like to make the playoffs, or go 1 and 15??

Oh was that Nate Kaeding joke used so much in San Diego. I remember being at the playoff when he missed those kicks and I was also at the playoff game with Nate was a rookie and asked for the ball to be placed on the right hash then misses right. Fun games!!

Of course playoffs, but if our Rams are going to make silly and pathetic mistakes frequently in front of a million viewers on Fox or CBS during the postseason, then I'd rather find a long term solution.

lol you have 666 posts I'd be careful if I was toi.

Re: talking with a Charger fan about our past drafts.

Kennedy is actually solid and lewis has been alright. They busted for us but ended up being solid NFL players. Pisa might have lead in tackles, but we literally had no1 else to put someone on the ground. I never thought he was a good player when i watched him and I still dont. He was hurt all the time and didn't hit people til they already had a first down.

Re: talking with a Charger fan about our past drafts.

At some point though, where does the blame go from the player or the front office to the coaching staff? When you look at the list of players the odds are against one team having that much bad luck in the draft! You have to be able to take the talent your given and develop it at the next level and that's where I think the Rams have had most of their problems.
Just my opinion here and there are players that are just over hyped coming out of college but I don't think they all make it on the Rams roster.
