    Tavon Austin

This is the worst player I have ever seen. When he gets the ball on a kick off or Punt, he runs around like a chicken with his head cut off and loses yards like there is a bonus stat for doing it. I never seen anyone run so far and accomplish so little. If he would just run straight forward and get tackled, we would be in a better position to start our offense. Two catches for six yards was the total Wide Receiver output for this guy last night. He is on par for the worst draft pick ever. I am sick of seeing this guy dance with the ball like he is on dancing with the stars.

I don't think Austin is the problem. It's a complete special teams failure and Austin is trying to find a lane to run through and it's not there. Did you not see the punt return TD he had that was nullified by a special teams penalty last week? And he does not return kickoffs, that would be Bennie Cunningham. As for receiving, you might want to blame the OC - not Tavon Austin.

    A bit premature, no?

In his first 4 games, Isaac Bruce had a total of 5 receptions, 73 yards and 1 TD.

And I agree that the OC needs to learn how to use Austin's skills. Given that he is an unconventional player, that may take a bit of time.

Just a playmaker trying to make a BIG play. I say, keep doing what you're doing Tavon.

I think the young man is just trying to make something happen. I am much more concerned about other aspects of this team then Tavon......

Jury still out on Austin, but like I said earlier this scenario I will always wonder about....

Just remember with the way Snead works the draft we could have had .....

WR DeAndre Hopkins and 2 of the following OLs

Melanik Watson OT - slated as a starter for Raiders, but injured
Larry Warford OG - Starter with Detroit
Brian Winters OG - soon to be Jets starter
Terron Armstead OT - 2nd team and currently injured
Dallas Thomas OG - Jury still out
Hugh Thorton - Starter with Colts

I think we need 3 years before we know whether the Hopkins pick instead of trading up for Austin would have been better.

    I'm not following you here...

How did the Tavon Austin trade prevent the Rams from taking two of those OL?

Wow with everything that is going wrong with this team you single out Tavon. I knew at some point if he did not start fast it would happen but week four and his numbers are as good or better then most rookies in the NFL.

We lost a draft pick and we could have picked up another with a trade down. Note that Hopkins is already productive as the Texas second WR.

    Re: Tavon Austin

My advice to anyone who thinks Austin is a bust, should look at his numbers against the Falcons in week two, or his punt return for a TD against Dallas last week that was wiped out by a penalty. 4 games in a dysfunctional offense and Austin is a bust? I don't see it.

I guess I single out tavon because his ineptness was so visible.

While I do agree with this statement, I disagree on a few other facts about it.

    1) We didnt trade up to get Bruce high in the 1st round
    2) for a player that we taded up and gave up picks for, this guy needs to make an immediate impact.
    3) for years now, no matter who our player is, I keep reading the same mantra--- give him time; however it seems that Time has never been our ally.

Sorry, but you can't do it that way. The Rams lost a second round pick from the trade. You can talk about who might have been there with that pick, but you can't presume another trade down resulting in a specific player.

Yes, and he's doing it on a team that is averaging 4.9 yards per rushing attempt and has Andre Johnson as its #1 WR. I think Hopkins is a very good player, and I would have been happy if the Rams had taken him, but its not really fair to compare him to Austin at this point.
