I brought up Holt because, I don't think Austin playing in an offense that spreads the ball around will stop him from getting his hands on the ball enough to be productive. I also brought up Holt because he was drafted 6th overall and was productive. Where Quick is a second round project.

Austin was the 8th overall pick, he will need to be productive day one IMO he will. Just not sure what is realistic that's all.

I agree Holt was in a great system, with great players around him no doubt.

Holt was a rookie, Warner had never started a game in the NFL. I don't think Bradford's play will hamper Austins production do you?

Would you have said the same thing about a comparison with Chris Givens at this time last year? He played in an anemic offense behind Gibson and Amendola for most of the year, yet manage 698 yards and 3 TD's. Considering the upgrades the Rams have made on offense, and Austin's skill set, I don't see the comparison being unreasonable.

    Re: Tavon Austin rookie numbers

After two games a few thoughts on Austin.

Targeted 19 times so far more then any other Ram. 12 catches for 88 yards. 2 TDs and a avg. of only 7.3 yards per catch.

I would think that the avg. per catch would be higher closer to 14. The two TDs are a very strong start. He has three rushes for a low of 2.3 per touch. His punt returns have been limited due to all the penalties.

So far so good IMO, it's just a matter of time before he starts getting more space to make big plays. The Rams are really trying to get him the ball which is good. Thought we would see more screens and better designed plays to free him up, rub routes ect.

Thoughts on what you have seen so far?

He's on the field, getting open, and making catches.

The open field plays will come.

It's obvious he's getting more comfortable every week. I agree with Av, it's only a matter of time before the big plays come.

I'm glad to see he's getting involved.

    The big plays will come.

As of now he's averaging a TD per game which is a great average for any receiver. I'll take it.

No doubt! TA and the Rams offense are taking baby steps to develop his productivity. Let's watch that baby grow FAST, healthy and strong.
