He could very well challenge for the spot, although he certainly didn't wow the folks in Arizona, who have had just as many OL problems as we have. We'll see. I would love to see him resurrect his career.

Re: Team expected to sign Gorin

From Jim Thomas, STL Post-Dispatch, this afternoon:

The team also will sign offensive tackle Brandon Gorin to the roster to replace Orlando Pace, who’s out for the season with a right shoulder injury. Offensive tackle Kenyatta Walker also was in for a visit, but the Rams opted for Gorin instead, a former New England Patriot.
...To replace Orlando? We'll see. I thought Barron was moving to LT. There are obviously a few m a j o r decisions taking place at Rams Park right now.

    :bash:
All the best. I'm sure the players will committ to their best too.

Re: Team expected to sign Gorin

BTW (and I'm not sure if this has already been discussed, sorry), anyone know why Gorin was inactive all season last year?

This is one of the reasons I seriously doubt he would come in to start or even dress up right away. Writer Jim Thomas probably did not mean that this newly acquired OT would come in to replace Pace.

PS: Oh, I see -- Gorin comes in to replace Pace on the roster.

No clue as to why he didn't work out for the Cardinals, but prior to the trade last summer he was still getting reps with New England's first team offense and seemed to be in competition to be their starting right tackle.

Re: Team expected to sign Gorin

My only guess is that the Rams are trying to build a deeper Tackle position and with Owens being signed to play FB (most likely?) they are looking at 7 man blocking schemes on obvious passing downs? They must do something, Goldberg obviously isn't the answer and they have filled in junky players in the past at the tackle position. Who was that guy (Jones) with the psychological problems who filled in at T for one of the Superbowl teams?

edit: Believe he was traded by New England because they had a rookie and then with the Cardinals he was banged up a little. He didn't just not play, I think he was inactive most games.

Living in Patriots country and having many many friends that are Patriots fans. I do remember Gorin's name being tossed around. Nothing overly negative or positive, pretty much a solid player.

I don't remember why he left the Pats? Or if he was traded, released etc..

I believe Gorin was traded last summer because the Patriots felt good about their rookie tackle, Ryan O'Callaghan.
