team has to be down before offense gets going?
is it that the team goes down because the offense doesnt score, or does the offense kick into gear knowing it has to score x amount of points to get back in the game?

Both side of the ball we are starting slow. We gave up 2 TD drives. While the O went three and out. We where coming off a bye week and it looked like it.

Re: team has to be down before offense gets going?
I think Linehan is set on running a controlled offensive drive in the beginning, trying to establish the illusion that we're going to control the tempo, and keep the other team off balance. But the running game isn't consistant enough to do that. Then, the other team scores, we get behind and he figures the only way to get back into it is to throw, and that IS our forte. So we fall back on it because it works. Despite all we've read, we're not a power running team. We need to throw, and throw often. It's amazing to me how great Bulger and company have responded. They keep flinging it and making things happen even though the other teams know we're throwing. Knowing this is what we are, why not come out like you're behind, air it out, run shotgun formation, 2-minute drills and GET a lead, then try the slow it down with a running game?
