Which Team Stat Impresses You The Most?
Which of the following 5 team stats do you think is the most significant in prompting the Rams' turnaround?
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: Which Team Stat Impresses You The Most?
I went with the sack total.
What impresses me most about that is that the Rams really didn't focus on upgrading its pass rush last offseason from a personnel standpoint. The improvement has come from the development of players and the use of Spags' proven scheme.

I know this choice was not listed on your poll but to me the most revealing stat to me this year is the PA v. PS. Last year, we were on track to set the modern day NFL record as teams just piled up points against us and we had no offensive answer. The fact that are spread this year is 1 point 140 PS v. 141 PA is indicative of the progress made this year. I think it sums up the categories listed above in the poll.

Of the choices, I'm going with the sack total. Specifically, I love how effective the line has been: 17 of the 23 sacks. Last year, the line had 19 all year.
But even with the improved line, the LBs are finding their way to the QB as well: 5 sacks thus far vs. 3 all of last year."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Re: Which Team Stat Impresses You The Most?
I went with time of possession.
It is the least sexiest stat but the biggest contributor, in my opinion, in the success of the defense.
They have shown flashes of being able to "get it done" but with all of the 3 and outs by the offense they have been worn down game after game. Now with some sustained drives they are getting some rest and are more able to make the plays through all four quarters.

Also went with sacks. Coming into the season, getting pressure on the QB was my biggest concern, as we had virtually no upgrades to the position save Fred Robbins and a bunch of late round draft fliers. Seeing this improvement has been one of my favorite aspects of the Rams this year. I know it has to be a huge burden off Chris Long's back for one, and you can see how much fun he is having out there now.

Re: Which Team Stat Impresses You The Most?
I went with the time of possession. I knew the defense was going to be pretty good this season. I wasn't expecting them to be as great as they are but pretty good at least. I thought the offense was going to be horrible though and leave the defense out on the field to get worn out. Bradford has exceeded all of my expectations and has me really excited for the next decade as a Rams fan.

Re: Which Team Stat Impresses You The Most?
Have to go with average time of possession. It is helping us out tremendiously on both sides of the ball. The offense is completing passes and moving the chains. Even if we aren't scoring, we are moving the ball. Which is something that we just could not do last year. The more the offense stays on the field the better the defense plays. Which was also a big problem last year. We couldn't keep the offense on the field, so by the 2nd half the defense was exhausted. Now the defense is playing well rested. That is showing up in the stats (sacks, interceptions, stopping the run)

More pressure you get the better the whole defense plays ala NY Giants M.o.

Re: Which Team Stat Impresses You The Most?
It had to be the sacks total, the Rams have been awful in that department for years.
Whats also important is the sacks are spread out amongst the whole team.
Definately shows a team playing for each other.

Re: Which Team Stat Impresses You The Most?
Not to sound like a broken record but I went with the sacks also. I remember feeling rather depressed when I heard that Leonard Little was not going to play for us this year ( although I did fully support C. Long moving to left DE as it is his best position).
I thought to myself that our anemic pass rush just got a whole lot worse. Factor in that we really did next to nothing to upgrade the DE position outside of a couple of late round picks (Sims & Selvie) and things certainly didn't look well for the Rams.
I am happily surprised to see how things are coming along so far.
If we can keep it going the wins will start piling up.
Sounds good to me!
WHAT SAY YE?

Re: Which Team Stat Impresses You The Most?
I went with the turn over ratio. Because that wins games. If you remember, I wanted O Atagwe to continue helping us at that stat and he has so far. What surprises me is that Bradford is not giving the ball back as much as one would expect from a rookie. Great job Sam, keep it up.
GO RAMS
