Tepid effort gets Spagnuolo heated up
By Bill Coats
St. Louis Rams Post-Dispatch
The weather was warm for Monday’s OTA, and St. Louis Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo was hot afterward. He said the players’ effort overall wasn’t up to par.
“When you walked out and felt the heat, I thought it was a good opportunity to kind of get that feel, a little pre-training camp deal, and see which guys would fight through it,” Spagnuolo said. “Some did and some didn’t. There were some lulls in there that you wouldn’t expect. Guys didn’t pick it up. But we’ll move on.”
Notes & quotes:
*WR Keenan Burton, recovering from a knee injury, took part in team drills for the first time.
*Five players have been cut: DT Chris Bradwell, LB Simoni Lawrence, WR Nick Moore, WR Roderick Owens and FB Kennedy Tinsley.
*The DBs looked good in 11-on-11 drills, prompting Spagnuolo to chastise the WRs at one point.
*QB Sam Bradford’s accuracy was evident, especially on a deep sideline throw that hit WR Donnie Avery in stride.
*TE Fendi Onobun had a tough outing, with two glaring drops. “But he wasn’t the only one,” Spagnuolo pointed out.
*RB Steven Jackson (back), G Jacob Bell (knee), long-snapper Chris Massey (knee), TE Daniel Fells (knee) and G Roger Allen (knee) remain sidelined.

Re: Tepid effort gets Spagnuolo heated up
Camp reports are like popcorn...
Much like popcorn, with its intoxicating aroma, I can't resist camp reports...
However... also like popcorn, with its shells that seem perfectly designed to get stuck between my teeth, I always kind of wish I had just stayed away.
The effort wasn't as good as Spags would like... OH NO!!!!!
Bradford looked good... YES!!!!
Onobun dropped two passes... OH NO!!!!!
The D backs looked good... YES!!!!!
The WRs didn't.... OH NO!!!!!
Seriously... could someone just wake me up in August?
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

I want to fast forward too. I hate this time of the year.
Have to deal with uninteresting news such as this.
Hopefully something major happens soon like "Coach Spagnuolo has finally figured out how to pronounce Michael Hoomanawanui."

But man, those Rams players are a bunch of wussies. What's the temperature there right now, 75 degrees?
Down here it's like 120.

Re: Tepid effort gets Spagnuolo heated up
Which begs the question, what the hell is more important, my health or this practice.
Spags needs to lighten up, as we have seen several cases where players have dropped dead in these type of scenarios recently.
I wonder how he would've felt had one of his players suffered the same fate?
If it's me, there's nothing in the world more important than my health.
Not even practice. Practice? We're talkin' about practice. (Allen Iverson) lol

When I was a kid, we used to take camping trips by Lake Hoomanawanui.

Re: Tepid effort gets Spagnuolo heated up
It's almost World Cup time for me. I always get excited around the World Cup which will help make the transition between the draft and preseason that much quicker. Glad to hear Bradford is already staying after practice with the WRs.
Oh and don't forget College Baseball. Go Horns.
