Tercero, Two Others Released, Kicker Signs
Tercero, Two Others Released, Kicker Signs
Wednesday, July 27, 2005
By Nick Wagoner
Staff Writer
The signing of rookies weren’t the only transactions the Rams made Wednesday. After safety Oshiomogho Atogwe signed a three-year deal Dante Ridgeway and Reggie Hodges inked three-year deals and Richie Incognito closed in on a contract, three players were given their release and another player entered the fray.
In perhaps the most interesting move of the day, St. Louis released offensive lineman Scott Tercero. Joining Tercero on the waiver wire are tight end Nick Burley and defensive lineman Matt McChesney. In addition, kicker Remy Hamilton agreed to a contract.
Tercero’s release comes as somewhat of a surprise considering the important role he nearly played a year ago. Before he went on the injured reserve list on Nov. 16 with shoulder and wrist injuries, Tercero had emerged as a legitimate candidate to start at left guard or right tackle.
At the time of his injury, Tercero weighed around 300 pounds, but he lost considerable weight and was unable to put those pounds back on. Without the ability to gain the weight in time for camp, Tercero was given his release.
Burley spent 14 weeks on the team’s practice squad before a pair of weeks on the active roster. McChesney was an undrafted free agent defensive tackle out of Colorado.
Hamilton spent part of 2003 camp with Seattle and 2004 camp with Chicago. He has spent the past seven seasons with the Los Angeles Avengers of the Arena Football League. Hamilton is third in Arena League history with 878 kicking points.
Hamilton kicked for Michigan in college and graduated as an All-American.

Sucks, but I guess it makes sense, and sheds some additiona light on why Tom Nutten was signed back besides Saipaia's move to RT.

Wishful thinking maybe, but what if Incognito's knee isn't as bad as everyone thought?

Just goes to show you, for all of our speculating, we were all wrong. I didnt see one person on this board name tercero as a guy that could be waived.

I knew he was going to be released, but I withheld the information.
Just kidding - I did not see that coming!
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

I knew it would happen, but had I told you, I would have had to kill you. :drunk:

For whatever it's worth, I did not "know" of course (...or did I?), but in the projected 53 man roster that was posted a week ago by Avenger, I did reply with my list of 53 Rams leaving Scottie Tercero out of it.Just goes to show you, for all of our speculating, we were all wrong. :football: I'll speculate along with Vegas in that perhaps Incognito is closer to the team than at first thought. Let's hope Nütten remains strong and healthy too.Last edited by RealRam; -07-28-2005 at 01:20 AM. Reason: Projected 53 roster by AR

Vegas, I would love nothing more than to agree with you. I am very excited to see what brand of violence the Crazed Cornhusker brings to the field, but I'm betting Tercero's cut has more to do with Tercero weighing 250 lbs. than Incognito's health.

What I'm saying is that Wilkens, at the age of 33, is still a young man in terms of human life, but is drawing ever nearer to being on his proverbial "last leg" (pun very much intended) in terms of football life. With Hamilton in camp, Wilkens can save his leg until it's needed in season.
