Re: And then ther were 53

Atogwe, Groce, Byrd and Fisk to not make the team?

Atogwe has been the starter at FS during camp, and will be unless something happens. Bartell may have been moved to FS but is no where near getting much playing time. The team went through a lot of trouble to get Fisk and Byrd, and it would be stupid of them to just dump them straight away. Groce i dont see going just because he has starting experience. He may be even be the fifth CB, but he was our best cover corner last year.

Re: And then ther were 53

I agree with your assessments tomahawk, except I would be inclined to replace Groce with McGarigle since with T. Faulk's injury we don't have a back-up MLB at this point. I just don't see much "upside" with Groce and would like to fill his spot on the roster with somebody who may develop. We seem to have enough candidates at CB IMO.

WHAT SAY YE?

Re: And then ther were 53

Yes, I think you're right, RAMarkable. We have an ample stock of DBs as it is.

THawk247, I understand your position on Fisk; I actually like him and appreciate his potential at DT depth. Keep in mind that nuance of a number though, 53. Last year we had one very good DL veteran, in the roster, 13 yrs. in the NFL ...grrr, can't remember his name right now! Point is, he was suppose to add to the DT depth -- didn't make the team.

It's not an easy task to take names off the list, is it?

I don't see us keeping 9 LBs and McGarigle not being one of them. I agree with the omissions stated by tomahawk247 with the exception that RAMarkable made with Groce I would not be disappointed to see Groce go.

I think Alston is supposed to be playing at safety anyway. If McGarigle sticks, does that mean Goolsby is the odd man out?

Re: And then ther were 53

THawk, I think I'll give in on Fisk. And GoldFleece is probably right on Alston becoming a Safety.

Hmmm. I've totalled 51. Now if only I can find two more keepers.

Nick, you have Atogwe and DeGroce. Tempting, tempting.
