Things that seem pretty obvious to me.
The Rams looked horrible last weekend.
But its way too soon to panic.
The offensive line was inexcusably bad.
But injuries and adjustments to new positions are explanations.
Sam Bradford will have to learn to play in a quick-throw system.
But there is every indication is that he has the ability to do so.
It would have been nice to have signed Brian Westbook.
But he wasn't going to make or break the Rams' season.
The Rams' offense will be much better with Steven Jackson playing.
But others on the offense will have to step up as well.
Bradford is likely to be the opening day starter.
Unless the Rams' coaches feel that the O line can't protect him.
The pass defense was very poor against the Vikings.
But its not as though the Vikings did most of their damage against the starters.
Chris Long is poised to have a breakout season.
But if he doesn't get 10+ sacks, few will notice.
Jason Smith's play last week is cause for concern.
But its way too soon to condemn him.
Rodger Saffold's play is encouraging.
But its way too soon to anoint him.
This could be another long season.
But it could also be an exciting season.
That' what I think, anyway...
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

I completely agree. In a nutshell, its way too early to tell how things are going one way or another. Time will tell.

Re: Things that seem pretty obvious to me.
My expectations are six wins and when you really look at that, what a huge leap that would actually be. Going 2, 2, and 1 to 6 in one year for me would be great success to build on. Main reason, we would be in a draft position that taking a WR/Playmaker in that slot makes sense and this team needs playmakers.

Excuses. But none the less, I think Spags will overcome being a puppet and lead this team.

Re: Things that seem pretty obvious to me.
It's obvious to me that, while I'm sure he gives the kiddies a warm fuzzy feeling, Rampage the mascot is a little too cute for his own good. Reminds me of the dancing lion from the Madagascar movies.
Anybody else see that New Zealander indie flick, Black Sheep, about genetically-altered ovines going berserk? Totally hilarious & horrific at the same time. To heck with Invictus, that's the flick Spags oughta run for these guys & get the Fx guys to make us a slathering, throat-ripping, wild-eyed icon to prowl the sidelines.
I agree that the legal eagle's nest is slowly but distinctly slipping down Mt Zen.
Of course, AV used the term "zen" somewhat incorrectly, in any case. Zen is an approach to the state of enlightenment, not an end in itself.....
heheheh....that ought to speed up his slide back into the mosh pit with the rest of us under-evolved types....Last edited by Azul e Oro; -08-17-2010 at 08:32 PM.

Re: Things that seem pretty obvious to me.
Well some things I've noticed :
Sam Bradford will be a bust because of his shoulder
Steven Jackson is done because his back is giving out
Chris Long and Jason Smith are busts
Rodger Saffold and Jerome Murphy are over-hyped
We have no talent on this team.....
Avenger.. that zen is startin' to go away aint it?

Re: Things that seem pretty obvious to me.
A whole lot of "buts" in there though... some good and some bad, but then again you could do the same thing for just about any NFL team (I just used a "but" right there).
What you said there is exactly right though. Really, no matter what you look at, it's too early to get a clear picture on what to expect; however, we can get some possible trends, especially after the next preseason game.

I don't care who you are, if you are on the O-line you block. What is there to adjust to? It is not a question of Block or not to Block. You have three options, Block the dude in front, block the dude to the right, block the dude to the left. It does not take genious to figure this out. There are 5 of you and maybe 4 of them and sometimes you have running back help. If you are the pulling guard, you pull and block. But you don't pull on a pass play, you stay home and block. And here is a tip, your bigger than him, you move at the same time he does, so there is no excuse. If he runs into your lane, block him. Can I get 5 to 7 seconds out of you please!!!!
Bradford is likely to be the opening day starter.

No, they better get a clue and pass protect. Why are they paid league minimum for? Its like my old Sergeant Major Dixon used to say, "You better Know your job or you will be chiefing a shopping cart at Walmart."
P.S. It blocks or it gets the hose again.
