    Who's Kevin Demoff?

"Props" isn't a word. That's not a "racial" thing, that's an "English Language" thing.

Here's the real situation (maybe then we can get back on track).

There are certain posters who I can always count on to post something contrary. You might think that a simple thread about Kevin Demoff would be exempt from that type of response but, alas, you'd be wrong. Even such an innocuous thread receives a criticism over the use of the word "praise." To make it worse, the criticism is clearly baiting to get into a religious debate (What? You think I didn't get that from the beginning?).

Now, I suppose I could just ignore that kind of response, but that really wouldn't be me, would it? Instead, I responded with a tongue-in-cheek, sarcastic, vocabulary lesson (which, by the way, was spot on). Of course, the response to that is more baiting (this time with absurd accusations of racial insensitivity).

In the end, I guess I should accept the fact that I played (and am playing) a part in taking this thread off the rails and leave it at that.

I still think that Demoff deserves our praise.
I thought my point was as clear as a summer day, but obviously not. And for that I apologize. I'm sorry, you felt compelled to even respond to it. That was certainly not my intention. I was simply calling it like I see it, whether you agree with me or not (you know, like always).

Let's keep the focus on football and nothing else, I think that's safer my friend.

"A theatrical property, commonly referred to as a prop, is any object held or used on stage by an actor for use in furthering the plot or story line of a theatrical production. Smaller props are referred to as "hand props". Larger props may also be set decoration, such as a chair or table. The difference between a set decoration and a prop is use. If the item is not touched by a performer for any reason it is simply a set decoration. If it is touched by the actor in accordance to script requirements or as deemed by the director, it is a prop."

Re: Time to give praise to Kevin Demoff

So people want to give Demoff a chair or a table?

Well that makes no sense at all (much like the direction of this thread).

Perhaps this thread is leaning so far off track we need to support it with...a PROP! (What else?)

As for how anyone can't see that those comments were potentially insensitive (which doesn't suprise me especially in the society we live in), I'd like for you to come to my old neighborhood and try to give the drug dealers & gang members the vocabulary "lesson" shared here...it would be an interesting experience. Bottomline, this is a football thread not english class so let's just keep the focus on FOOTBALL. With that being said, I'll keep the comments football related from here on out.

    Go Rams(LOL)

    Wow...

    Just.... wow.

Look, the bottom line here is, what is good for the goose (criticizing me for using the word "praise" CORRECTLY), is certainly good for the gander (me responding by pointing out that the word "props" really isn't a word).

See... there I go again. The next post will certainly be from the President of the Domestic Waterfowl Anti-Defamation League.

Again sir, I'd like to express my most heartfelt apology if you felt my comment was criticizing you. THAT WAS NOT THE INTENT. It was just me expressing my opinion on how the word should be and is most commonly used. You are certainly free to use it in any way you see fit, that's why I prefaced my second response with "to each his/her own".

No you won't find "Props" in the dictionary, but I'm willing to bet 90% of this board understood exactly what I meant when I wrote it, yourself included.

So what exactly, is your point?

Re: Time to give praise to Kevin Demoff

I think my point was that you could have avoided all of this by merely responding to the topic without making a needless comment about MY word choice.

    Wasn't that obvious?
