Interesting video with Young in High School discussing his problems. Doesn't look like he's learned much since then.

Erik Burkhardt, who represents unrestricted free agent Danny Amendola, doesn't believe Young's signing will have any impact on his client's status with the Rams.

"I don't think it affects Danny one bit," Burkhardt told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on Tuesday. "Titus Young isn't anywhere in the same zip code as Danny as far as a player goes. I'm sure Young may disagree with that because he thinks he's better than Calvin Johnson."

Fair point. The Rams claimed Young off waivers Tuesday after he was cut Monday by the Lions. Detroit's former second-round draft pick burnt every bridge in town, but the Rams are looking for weapons on offense after struggling to score points last season.

Burkhardt characterized Amendola's negotiations with the Rams as "positive," saying, "I think they know what Danny brings to the team, and the spirit of the team aside from what he does on the field."

At least he's better than Megatron!

It seems like someone needs to show Titus the segment of this video from the 1:47 to 1:59 minute mark, because it is as applicable today as it was then.

I love the facial expression on the girl he puts his arm around, because it seems pretty clear she wants nothing to do with his gesture but suffers through it for the video.

    Just a side note.....

I really never have a problem with any player thinking he is the best in the game. He never said it to anyone except his high school coach (supposedly a trusted figure) -- and that coach made it public.

The only problem is that someone said it to the media.

Every top athlete thinks they can/are the best player -- otherwise they are truley behind the 8ball before stepping on the field. This is the least of our worries.

No, the problem is that Young's "self confidence" manifested in an ego so big that he decided to intentionally sabotage his team when he wasn't being utilized in a manner that was satisfactory to him.

When his own teammates are saying publicly of him, "He wants to be an a-hole, let him be an a-hole," then the problem is more than a high school coach talking to the media.

I tend to agree with what you're saying, although a player thinking they are the best can be a double edged sword. On one hand, they can use that mindset as motivation to work hard, make the effort, and do everything they can to try and be the best. On the other hand, they can think they are the best, then instead of putting in the work, they make excuses why they are not living up to it, like complaining about not being targeted enough, or not having a good enough QB, or a good enough OC.

From what I've read on some Lion's message boards, Young was not a hard worker. Guess we'll find out.

Re: Titus Young Claimed By Rams Off Waivers

Some amusing posts from a Lion's message board:

Well when he tweets hes the best there... He might be right!
Congrats to the Rams. Not every day you can make a waiver claim on a receiver who is as good as Calvin Johnson.
Hall of famer Titus Young is one stupid tweet away from never seeing the inside of an NFL stadium without paying for a ticket which will be hard to do after he is fired from Subway for tweeting he is better than Jared.
Most posts however, sounded like this:

I'm extremely annoyed that this turd is already back on an NFL roster.
I can't wait to witness thus douche-bag fade into the background.

It's a cheap pick up, you know the Rams are gonna bring in some boddies at receiver, so it will be interesting to see where he falls when the dust settles. Saying he's better than Megatron, is not a crazy notion, what should be questioned is does he have the same work ethic.

I've got no problem with the pickup since it really isn't costing them much. If he keeps his nose clean, which I don't see happening, great. If not, no big deal as long as they deal with it immediately.

At the first sign of any problem, they absolutely must kick him to the curb. Fisher and Snead have to sit this kid down and tell him he's on a very short lease and tell him that if he wants to play in the NFL with the grownups, he'll have to start acting like one.

Guys like this just piss me off. All that talent and no brains.

Those posts from a Lions' message board that Mike placed here are hilarious!

And even though it's the off-season and there are periods when there's not much to write home about, it is interesting that this young Titus has us going on SEVEN pages!

Then again, a player w/ the stature & skills of Megatron easily fills 10 pages of news and comments!
