Linebacker Rocky McIntosh took the field Thursday for the final practice of Rams minicamp practice. McIntosh, 29, spent six seasons with the Redskins and started 69 games, after being drafted out of Miami in the second round of the 2006 draft. McIntosh 6-2, 242 pounds, was replaced as a starter in the middle of last season.
"Hopefully before I get in he'll be under contract," coach Jeff Fisher said immediately after practice. "We worked him out yesterday morning, did a great job in an individual (practice). He's moving around good. He's an experienced veteran, has some experience in the scheme, with the terminology, so he can pick it up fast.
"He's one of those guys that we're going to put in the mix and compete and see what happens."
The team ended minicamp with what was supposed to be a friendly little game involving offensive and defensive lineman catching punts. The side that caught the most was supposed to be the winner.
“Then it was whoever catches it. It looked like it was going to go on forever,” Fisher said. “Clearly the big guys got an appreciation for how hard the job is. When Danny (Amendola) got up there and caught the first one, they understood. We have to take a couple of them in and ice them down. Harvey (Dahl) landed on his head.”
Dahl was fine, physically.
