AV.... I see a few problems.
If you address all the holes as simply and as expertly as that...
Bernie won't have anything to write about.
Devaney won't be able to justify Softli's salary.
Shaw and Ziggy won't be able to justify Devaney's salary.
And Chip will have to evaluate Shaw and Ziggy's job's.
Looks perfect!
Re: Too many holes to fill? Let me give it a shot.
The only thing i dont really like in that is Ainge. Im not a fan of him, i rather get Flaco or even Brennen if they are available at the 5th round IMO.
Re: Too many holes to fill? Let me give it a shot.
I say flacco if hes there and Brennen is a last resort that we dont need, if Flacco isnt there we should wait a couple years and draft a qb in the 1st round.
Re: Too many holes to fill? Let me give it a shot.
Looks pretty good to me. I would love to see us pick up big time motor guy and pass rush specialist Bruce Davis as a situational 3-4 OLB.
Re: Too many holes to fill? Let me give it a shot.
Depth on the defense would concern me here. If Adeyanju ever has to start, we can almost assume that we will no longer be getting sacks from that side. He has played in 27 games, starting 16 of them and has 1 sack to his name. I'd be willing to bet that is well below average even for backup defensive ends. Heck, Clifton Ryan has never started a game and plays nose tackle, and he still had more sacks in his first season than Adeyanju has in two seasons. Obviously having a seventh rounder as the primary backup at nose tackle would be worrisome. The secondary looks just a little thin with only three backups for four positions. This wouldn't be that bad, except having a good nickelback is becoming increasingly important in the league and Brown is one strike away from year-long suspension.
Given the lack of options in free agency and the number of draft choices, we couldn't hope for much better than this. But I think the dropoff in talent between starter and backup on defense at almost any spot would be pretty severe --and far moreso than any position on the offense in this scenario.

I would like more of a pulverizing blocking FB type like Mike Cox of Georgia Tech. Culcrik is good, but he is just a RB to big and slow to play RB so he is forced to convert to FB. Cox is a physical lead blocker pure kind of throw back full back
oh you mean someone like madison hedgecock... oh yes i would love a player LIKE MADISION HEDGCOCK!!!!!
also what is wrong with colt brennan??? i would take him with a 6th round pick, no worse than jeff smoker

I actually liked the whole thing and the time and effort is just way too good for the likes of us . HAIL the AVENGER .
Re: Too many holes to fill? Let me give it a shot.
why are people talking about Flacco? he is potentially going to the Ravens on the first day of the draft is what i have heard
we want someone picked late on to develop over time, we have Green for three years to be backup until he is needed
Re: Too many holes to fill? Let me give it a shot.
It fills the holes but how does that equate to wins and losses? Not a big Avery fan. Saw him play, wasn't that impressed. Don't know a thing about Henry or Bruce Davis. As long as Bartell, Wade, and Chavous are on the lineup our secondary is rather suspect.
Like I said, it fills the holes true. Not sure how it equates to wins/losses. Maybe it's just by dire disposition on this year.
Re: Too many holes to fill? Let me give it a shot.
Overall, very nice job Av. I just have one teensy weensy problem. Your roster is 44 players. A roster is 53 plus practice squad. I think an active game day roster is 46 plus an emergency 3rd QB and you don't meet that.
Of course, you have neglected to mention some guys that are on the roster and likely to make the team. Todd Johnson, SS2 being one, Travis Minor RB4 is another. So is Claude Wroten, UT3. So that gives us 47, hey a game day roster. There's major depth issues on both lines and in the linebackers. What about Dane Looker, is he getting cut now that Wilkins doesn't need him for holds? Or Derek Stanley? Would Alston be back as a depth LB?
