If it were up to me, and this is not meant to be a bash at all, but I would put Bruce on the list over Warner if I had to pick one of the 2. The guy did it for his whole career on some bad teams. I also might still be sippin the Koolaid from last week though

    1. The definition of overrated? Rice @ #1 and Montana @ #4 (Half or more of their paychecks should go to Bill Walsh)

    2. Dick Butkus. The greatest defender of all time.............at #10? sigh.

    3. No chance in H-E-double hockey sticks that 16 players are better than Barry Sanders. No chance.

    4. Joe Namath being on this list, even @ #100, is over rating Broadway Joe.

    5. And now for the most horrific portion of this list......

    Michael Irvin - 750 rec., 11,904 yards, 65 TDs
    Isaac Bruce - 1,024 rec., 15,208 yards, 91 TDs

    Irvin.....on the list
    Bruce.....off the list

    the list.......loss of credibility

    Totally agree!

And aside from the fact that Irvin really IRKS me, he's taken much too highly into these types of NFL recognitions just because he played with the cowgirls -- "a winning team". He also has a big mouth. Bah, humbug!

Our Isaac Bruce was a better receiver as proven by those numbers you posted. Period!

Rice should be in top 15, NOT at the top! Never.

Butkus, the real Monster of Midway, easily top 7.

Again, Jack Youngblood and Jackie Slater ... two HOF that should easily be on the NFL Top 100 Players list. Do some research, look up how many football professionals played 20 consecutive years. Darrell Green of the Redskins. Jackie Slater of the Rams.

Jackie Slater: T-w-e-n-t-y years of consistent, high level performance -- in the trenches, mind you.

    7× Pro Bowl selection (1983, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990)
    3× First-team All-Pro selection (1987, 1988, 1989)
    2× Second-team All-Pro selection (1983, 1985)
    4× First-team All-NFC selection (1983, 1986, 1987, 1989)
    3× Second-team All-NFC selection (1985, 1988, 1990)

Re: Top 100 which great Ram is not on the list?

In April of last year, close family members of Eddie Meador were lobbying for his HOF nomination. The following is a post that Meador's daughter placed here in ClanRam under the thread titled 'Former L.A.Ram, Eddie Meador, a Nominee for Pro Football Hall of Fame'.

I am the daughter of former L.A.Ram, Eddie Meador, who played 12 seasons with the Rams as a Defensive Back from 1959-1970.

My brothers and I have begun a campaign to hopefully get our dad inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Senior Class of 2010. He is already on the official list of nominees.

We had a website created for Dad. PLEASE visit Welcome. You will be able to read his Bio/Stats/Fun Facts & see many photos. Through this website, a person can also send in their letter of recommendation to the HOF and/or voting committee members. The Senior Selection Committee will begin reviewing the list of nominees in June & make their final decision in August.

Please help spread the word about our campaign and Dad's website. We would GREATLY appreciate your support!

    Sincerely,
    Vicki Meador-Baldwin
Sure, call the above bias if you want (including myself) but I responded affirmatively and without hesitation. The truth is that Eddie Meador -- one of my heroes from 1965-70 -- was one of those quiet, hard hitting, great safeties; very effective tackler, many INTs [you might want to visit the aforementioned thread] ... but without "Primetime" flash.

In any case, as far as I'm concerned, Meador certainly / easily should be in the NFLs Top 100 Players of All-Time based on his career productivity. In fact, there was an NFL Network discussion among the most important selecting people (King, Lombardi, Sabol, et al) and they were wondering "why aren't there more safeties?" in their list.

Well gentlemen, you missed one of the purest, best safeties of the 60s, Eddie Meador. That's why.

Jackie Slater was the most glaring omission, I think.

Both Bruce and Youngblood should definitely have been there. A few more possibilities are Tom Fears, Les Richter and Orlando Pace.

    You got that right!

    Michael Irvin - 750 rec., 11,904 yards, 65 TDs
    Isaac Bruce - 1,024 rec., 15,208 yards, 91 TDs
This sums it up, unreal that Bruce is not on the list.

Well, Bob Waterfield is a Hall of Famer, and certainly (like Fouts) had a better career than Namath. (Hey, why isn't Namath listed as a Ram??)

I think one might want to at least think about Nolan Cromwell. At his peak, Joel Buschbaum thought he was the best player on the field in the NFL.
