All depends, if it's 6 weeks then we are looking at the Green Bay game, or he could get the ultimate bad news which is the foot does not heal properly/ surgery which will more than likely mean GONE FOR THE SEASON!

This freaking sucks! I know our game plan doesnt necessarily rely on receivers, but we needed some serious speed from him.

It really stinks because we need to start off the year very good....

Re: Top WR Avery out 4 to 6 weeks with foot injury

Everyday I watch the sports-wire with the hope that I won't see an update involving a Rams injury, and today it happened.

But it's football. It's going to happen. ...and unfortunately, it won't be the last injury for the Rams this year. The Rams have been fortunate to date, especially with the live hitting in practice, but I guess better now then later? If the estimate of 4-6 weeks is right, it only means a couple of games, maybe three.

Time for the other WR's to step it up. I think Curry and Robinson will be the go-to guys now, and I also think there's still enough speed to throw the occassional deep pass with those guys. Keenan Burton now has an opening to make his mark. Let's hope he makes the best of it.

'Step up' for the other WRs is absolutely right! It's that "silver lining" opportunity for them as well.

I hope Avery recuperates 100% physically and mentally; I think he will. He knows his value and responsibility...

This is interesting, if the x-ray shows no break, an MRI can detect a hair line fracture? I think that is what it is?

How does this translate to surgery?

Man I hope you are wrong and its more like 4 weeks only. I was really excited about this kid. According to Rams to Spags info will be made available tomorrow morning, "And Keenan Burton will likely step into the role of Avery and work with the first team as he did on Sunday morning."

Although I do like Burton too, I was looking to the return of Flipper!

    Uhhhh. No!

Here's to a very speedy recovery and here's to Robinson, Burton and Curry stepping it up big time. This was always going to be a run oriented offense so I guess the absence of our only other legitimate playmaker puts more pressure on Jackson to run the show.

Crap, this is some annoying news to wake up to. Here's hoping he has a speedy and full recovery and comes back by week three at the latest.

Re: Top WR Avery out 4 to 6 weeks with foot injury

Hey, think of this injury in this light: this could be a slight blessing in disguise. While Avery's out, more reps will go to our other receivers who will be able to get more in tune with the game plans and with Bulger under center. This'll give us a deeper WR corps in the end, while the problem could come when Avery tries to come back and he is a little rusty with catching balls from Marc. I'm not too concerned though, as he's been ripping it up so far.

I just wish the best to Donnie and his foot and hope that it's closer to the 4 weeks than the 6!

The offense does not to have rely on top quality WR. They spread the ball around to all WR and give Jackson the ball on screens. Avery heal up soon we want a healthy WR back in the lineup especially a guy like who can get the YAC.

    Go Rams

Just wondering, how do you know this? This offense is routinely touted on this board as some magical offense that doesn't require talented players to function. Would you like to share how this magical offense can achieve this?

Keep in mind the best West Coast Offense in the history of the league had Jerry Rice in it.

Honestly the receivers we have now are below average. We will struggle and continue to struggle as teams put 8 in the box to stop jackson. We do not have the offensive line or TALENT at rb that Minnesota has and even hey have a decent number 1 wr. We should consider picking up a extra receiver and Matt Jones would be a good choice

Barring Klop, the tight ends are a big part of this offense. Don't worry.
