The toughest player in the NFL is...
Marc Bulger.
What defines toughness?
Is it the player who hits the hardest? Is it the player who intimidates? Perhaps those are worthy measures.
In my book, however, "toughness" is the quality of being able to take hits, deal with the bumps and bruises, and still do your job.
Who fits that description better than Marc Bulger.
They guy takes hits all day. In addition to the 15 sacks he's had to shake off, he's been hit... and hit hard, many times. The shot to the throat last week was a big example. And, at 215 pounds, Bulger is a lot smaller than most of the players hitting him.
And yet, under all that duress, the guy is putting up great numbers.
Nearly 65% completions...
TD/Int. ratio of 2 to 1.
Passer rating of 94.6.
And, he also carries himself in a calm, almost stoic, manner that makes it seem like he's impervious to it all.
That's toughness.

Um... no. I wrote exactly what I meant.
By way of analogy, Bulger is like Allen Iverson (the toughest guy in the NBA). Not the biggest (Shaq), not the strongest (again, Shaq), but the toughest.

Re: The toughest player in the NFL is...
I'm sure there's a number of running backs and Linebackers out there that take a beating every sunday that would beg to differ....
But definitely agree Bulger is a tough guy. No way he could have made it this far if he wasn't, given that he's the shape of a pencil.

Could be.
Hard for "me" to say who is the toughest player in the NFL.
Bulger does take a lot of hits. Hopefully the Rams can get that fixed. The more hits a QB takes the greater the chance for injury.
I don't care how many tatoos they have, NBA players are not tough. At best they are comparable to circus clowns. Rodeo clowns are tough. Circus clowns are wimps.

I agree completely Av. From just reading the thread title, the first thing that entered my mind was Marc Bulger. Takes a beating week after week and never complains, never whines, just picks himself up and takes care of business. A warrior in every sense of the word.

Its Pretty Hard To Disagree With Bulger,he Takes A Beating, Which Has To Stop, Theres No Way He Can Make The Whole Season That Way, Hopefully Barron Will Make Life A Little Easier For Bulger.
