Trivia Question on rams history-who goes both ways?
Here is an interesting rams trivia question. I dont know the answer and before i start researching in the old media guides, i thought one of you guys might know the answer.
Who was the last rams player to play both ways during an NFL game? I am not talking about a play here or there (ie pat studstill who was the punter and a backup wide receiver), i mean an every down guy, chuck bedanarik style (who i think was the last nfl player to play every down both ways, but i am not sure about that).
Thanks for your help guys, i look forward as always to your responses.

Re: Trivia Question on rams history-who goes both ways?
Hi, Mama here.
I am surprised there hasn't even been a bite on this one.....LOL
So far, the only player I can find any kind of stats that would suggest anything like you are looking for is Bob Waterfield, putting up numbers at several positions from 1946-1948. Here is a link to the numbers I have found so far for him:
http://www.jt-sw.com/football/pro/pl...sf/ID/02610002
You can be the judge from there as to whether or not he is what you are wanting to find. There have been many others who have played at positions on both sides of the ball, but not any "every down" type players. I could list those guys all night, but so far, Waterfield looks to be close. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. I will keep looking, though.

Re: Trivia Question on rams history-who goes both ways?
Mama, thanks so much. i have been checking my info as well and will keep at it also in the hopes that i can find someone more recent than waterfield. Logic tells me that it has to be someone in the mid to late 50's, but waterfield may be it. he certainly was one of the all time great rams, an mvp and one of the great punters in the history of the nfl. A legit hall of famer and married to jayne mansfield to boot!
thanks again, this is truly a tough question and one that bears even greater research.

I checked every site I could find info on (I think) and went from 1952 to present, and in the mid-50's, there was a guy named Lamar Lundy, who played DE and TE, but never at the same time. He was on the 1957 roster, his stats weren't impressive at all. He was the only one that I saw playing on both sides at all between 1952 and 1960. Indeed, this is a worthy project, as I just LOVE a challenge! If you wanna have some real fun, check out the 1950 roster. There are 22 players on there playing both sides. I haven't checked their stats yet, but it could prove interesting.
Have fun, and a belated (by 2 hours) happy 4th to you too!
