Tye Hill the Man
With added help, more experience, and a better chemistry among players on the defense, I think Tye Hill is going to have an amazing year. His awareness of the ball and speed make him a huge threat. I say this because I do beleive our D-line and Linebackers will snuff the run causing opposing offenses to throw the ball more---eager eyes will be waiting for the flight of the ball!!!! Don't underestimate the talent of our corners. Thoughts??? Any other player(s) that will breakout this year???

Re: Tye Hill the Man
I agree, good post, but I have a very good feeling about James Hall this year, like maybe a 10+ sack year as long as he stays injury free. And my Favorite player on defense, O.J Atogwe will have an outstanding year and prove to everyone that he will be a good safety in this league. I just have a feeling that O.J. Is going to be a great player

Re: Tye Hill the Man
Tye will do well and I expect the same from Wade, just my gut feeling. I hope Bartell has his year, and I think if we can force opposing teams to pass, Leonard/Hall will combine for 18+ sacks. Hall has only played THREE full seasons, where he was great. Check out these stats:

Re: Tye Hill the Man
I think Atogwe will be the guy to show up and show off this year as well! I think he's about ready to make teams stop throwing his side.

Re: Tye Hill the Man
I dunno what would make you think that. I think that Brown and Atogwe are two big holes in our secondary. I hope that Wade will be good and I think that Tye Hill has the potential to be a great corner, but, otherwise, Atogwe is not a very physical safety and Brown is slow with bad coverage skills.

Re: Tye Hill the Man
To begin with, i think i'll cover my future bases by saying all of us here at the clan hope everyone will be good in the secondary this year. I'd like to hope they'd all be pro bowlers. Have record setting years. But my hopes are based on Rams bias alone.
So what are you basing your criticisms of Brown and Atogwe on? In my opinion, Brown was arguably the most solid player in our secondary last year. Without him, we would have been relying on the likes of Travis Fisher, J. Butler and 2nd year player Ron Bartell. I'd say Brown displayed, for the most part, the best coverage skills out of any player in our secondary last year. There weren't a lot of plays when he got beat for a TD.
Let's throw some stats out there. Brown registered less tackles than the NFL's undisputed #1 CB Champ Bailey, and less than 2005's #8 pick in Antrel Rolle. He recorded the same number of passes defensed to Carolina #1 Ken Lucas and picked off the same amount of balls as Lucas, Chris Gamble, Tye Hill and $80 million dollar man Nate Clements. He intercepted more passes than Seattle's Marcus Trufant, Rolle of Arizona, and the man who replaced him in his role in New Orleans, Mike Mckenzie. He also registered a sack, a feat that neither Rashean Mathis or Bailey could achieve.
In all, he had a decent year, no? Considering the above, it is indicative that his speed is most likely deceptive. What warrants a lack of production this year? Age? Consider the 30+ CBs still making an impact- Woodson, Ronde Barber, Samari Rolle, Chris McAlister, Mike McKenzie...hell Dieon Sanders played with the Ravens at age 37.
There are plenty of solid veterans around, and Fakhir Brown, whilst not an elite player, is certainly in the upper eschelon of starting veteran CBs.
OJ Atogwe? Has had two years where he's showed a lot of promise. What makes you think or 'hope' that a thrid round rookie DB this year will be more productive than a 3rd round FS with two years under his belt? OJ has showed a smack of playmaking ability. Consider the Dallas home closer in early 2006 when he forced 3 turnovers, or the 3 Picks, 1 sack, 5 forced fumbes and 7PDs he made this this year.
