Uhh oh....Rams say no to dome upgrade plan; will submit their own
ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Rams have rejected the initial proposal to upgrade the Edward Jones Dome and will submit their own improvement plan, the St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission said Thursday.
The CVC on Feb. 1 announced details of a plan calling for $124 million in improvements to the dome in an effort to keep the Rams in St. Louis. The team can break its lease after the 2014 season and potentially move to another city if the dome is not deemed to be among the top tier of NFL stadiums.
The CVC said the Rams will submit their own plan no later than May 1.
"We look forward to receiving it," the CVC said in a brief statement. CVC spokeswoman Donna Andrews declined further comment.
Messages left with the Rams were not returned.
Jeff Rainford, chief of staff for St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay, said the rejection was not unexpected at the early stages of the negotiations.
"It's part of the dance," he said.
The CVC plan included a massive scoreboard, new club seats and other amenities. But it also called for the Rams to pay for 52 percent of the cost.
There is growing concern among fans that St. Louis could lose an NFL team for the second time in a quarter of a century. The football Cardinals left for Arizona after the 1987 season in large part because of stadium issues -- owner Bill Bidwill wanted a stadium of his own rather than having to share one with baseball's Cardinals.

Re: Uhh oh....Rams say no to dome upgrade plan; will submit their own
Anyone that thinks that the deal was going to be accepted was in denial. It is called a negotiation for a reason both sides are going to have their input.....
O wait you guys wanted a the sky is falling the sky is falling reaction? Well not going to happen here. Its no big deal that they rejected the offer. This will come down to the last minute there is nothing to see here.

This is not news.
Anyone thinking clearly knew before the CVC even submitted their proposal that the Rams were not going to accept the initial offer.
I'll even let you in on a little secret...........---whispers---.....the CVC is going to reject the Rams counteroffer in May. That ball's going to bounce back and forth 3 or 4 more times before an agreement is reached."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

If Danny Amendola lined up accross from Chris Long and attempted to block him 1-1, the outcome of that effort would be less predictable than what happened with the Rams and the CVC.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

OMG! Those rallies in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Anaheim worked! They're moving!!!
Oh, wait...no they aren't!
What is going on is that the Rams and St. Louis are both trying to hammer out a deal that is favorable for both the city and the Rams.
I think you nailed it, sjrules....Super Bowl Champions 2013!

It's news in that the team gave it's response, but a response most expected. The dance continues...

Re: Uhh oh....Rams say no to dome upgrade plan; will submit their own
Like everyone else has said this is not a surprise, and there will be several more rejections/counterproposals before the dust settles. But anyone who thinks that this is a lock to eventually keep the Rams in St. Louis is deluding themselves. It is interesting to see some of the past comments from the "official Rams to LA" thread and other similarly themed posts. The people from out west tweaking the people from St. Louis and vice versa, and the wide range of opinions on the subject. My thoughts:
1) I've watched enough sports to know that whatever the outcome of this fiasco, I will not be surprised.
2) The Rams moved once already (excluding the Cleveland move). It would not be shocking to see them move again.
3) Stan is a businessman. He hasn't accumulated his vast wealth by being a dummy and selling himself or his interests short. He will take his franchise where he feels it will be most profitable.
4) Because Stan is from Missouri doesn't guarantee a "hometown discount" for the people of St. Louis.
5) Stan advanced as a final bidder on the LA Dodgers. If he were to be awarded ownership ( certainly a big "If"), it is not unreasonable to think the Rams and Dodgers could be neighbors.
6) No one has any clue whatsoever how this will play out, so no theories are unreasonable.

What "fiasco"?
True, though it is also not a foregone conclusion, as some seem to think it would be.5) Stan advanced as a final bidder on the LA Dodgers. If he were to be awarded ownership ( certainly a big "If"), it is not unreasonable to think the Rams and Dodgers could be neighbors.
So I can still hold out hope for the Orlando Rams?!?!6) No one has any clue whatsoever how this will play out, so no theories are unreasonable.
