Re: RUMOR: Rob Ryan hired as Rams defensive coordinator
Jim Thomas @jthom1
According to team sources, Rams have NOT hired Rob Ryan. They are interested, maybe even intrigued is a better word. But they are very. . .. . .early in the process of hiring a defensive coordinator. Jeff FIsher likes to take his time on such hires.
Re: UPDATE: Rams have not yet hired Rob Ryan as defensive coordinator
yea, read on wikipedia right after i saw this thread, not ONE defense he has had the reins of, has qualified for the playoffs...fisher, i hope you know what you're doing
Re: UPDATE: Rams have not yet hired Rob Ryan as defensive coordinator
Thought I'd pass this along. Howard Balzer believes that, if Ryan were hired, the Rams would remain a 4-3 defense as Ryan has coached both.

Re: UPDATE: Rams have not yet hired Rob Ryan as defensive coordinator
If it happens he better not frickin cut his hair or lose any weight! Its what makes him a boss. Im not too worried about all that statistic crap. Every time we go into an off-season looking for an HC, OC, or DC we dig deep into every stat they've registered, and yet it has no meaning on the future.
We tore apart Schotty for his inability to have a top 5 O, but yet most of us were very pleased with the offense this year. A lot of people ripped Fisher apart aswell, talking about how he only had 6 winning seasons in 18 coaching (or something like that), and yet we're all ecstatic that he's here.
I'm for anyone Fisher likes. Ryan is a nasty, fiery type of guy. LOADS of passion. May seem very immature at times, but at least he frickin cares! With pieces like Long, Quinn, Brockers, Lauriniaits, Finnegan, Jenkins and Dunbar why wouldn't he want to come here?
I'm open with anyone Fisher wants! Lets go!
Re: UPDATE: Rams have not yet hired Rob Ryan as defensive coordinator
It's not on the official Rams website yet so I'm assuming it's not true.
Re: UPDATE: Rams have not yet hired Rob Ryan as defensive coordinator
FWIW:
Cowboys players were not pleased that Ryan was fired, per NFL.com
Linebacker Bruce Carter's reaction: "WTF!"
Cornerback Sterling Moore: Not Happy Right Now!
Defensive tackle Jason Hatcher: "It was a privilege to play under Coach Rob Ryan! One of the greatest. Sad day. I'm hurting right now."
I am really hoping that this deal gets wrapped up, he has been my #1 choice since he was fired.

Well, I stand corrected on that.
This should be interesting.

I can see it now: "We are not worried about facing Calvin Johnson, because we two face better WRs every day at practice, in Gibson and Quick."

I'm surprised that Lovie Smith wasn't in the mix as a candidate, unless he's headed elsewhere. He left here in good stead as opposed to Mike Martz (which I never understood anyway) and he was a heck of a DC with the Rams and had some success as a HC in Chicago, albeit not enough to keep his job.

Lovie was a head coach for 9 years, much of it relatively successful. He would not be so quick to "demote" himself until any chance of getting another head coaching job disappeared, and I'm convinced someone wil hire Lovie to run their team.
Ryan Reportedly Hired by St. Louis Rams
Fox Sports News
1-12-13
It appears it won't take long for Rob Ryan to find work after being fired by Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys.
According to Brian Costello of the New York Post, Ryan has been hired as the defensive coordinator for the St. Louis Rams. When reached for comment, a team source could not confirm the report.
Ryan has had stints as the defensive coordinator for the Oakland Raiders (2004-2008), Cleveland Browns (2009-10) and Dallas Cowboys (2011-2012).
The Rams had a vacancy at the position after the NFL suspended Gregg Williams for his role in the bounty scandal while the defensive coordinator with the New Orleans Saints. Williams' son Blake, the Rams linebacker coach, called the defensive plays during the suspension. Blake Williams and the team parted ways earlier in the month.
Ryan will join the staff of a defensive-minded coach in Jeff Fisher. Fisher played for Rob's father Buddy in Chicago and coached under him in Philadelphia.
Fisher won't be the only familiar face for Rob in St. Louis. Rob's brother, Jim Ryan, is an attorney who has lived in St. Louis for the past 20 years.
Re: Ryan Reportedly Hired by St. Louis Rams
Shortly after this report Rob Ryan was seen in a St Louis tattoo parlor getting a tat of SJ in motion while holding his nipple like a football.

In other news, Generalisimo Francisco Franco is still dead.
