No ACL damage to Rams LT Rodger Saffold's knee, per league source, but uncertain how long he will miss.
Will continue to update this thread as we get further updates.
UPDATE (5:31 PM EST): According to Tony Softli @ Fisher's press conference, Fisher says Saffold has a significant injury but not season ending. It's a third degree MCL sprain.
The four-week time frame is something I heard Fisher say watching the live feed. He said Saffold would be back this season, but probably out four weeks if not longer.
Re: Update on Saffold injury: 3rd degree MCL sprain, out at least 4 weeks
So which Left Tackle should we draft this year?
Re: Update on Saffold injury: 3rd degree MCL sprain, out at least 4 weeks
yep it's time to move on from Saffold. He is way, way too injury prone. Just another Billy Devaney bust.
Btw I wouldn't take a LT high. Fisher has shown on plenty of occasions he can build teams without high picks being spent on offensive linemen.

I think talk of definitely needing a replacement is premature. The guy showed a lot of toughness to come back after that scary neck injury. Maybe not the smartest move to try to advance the ball after it fell to him but he looked like he was playing well before that. I'd like to see the Saffold/Rok/Wells/Dahl/B-Rich OL together & it looks like we may be able to do so after the bye week.

Totally agree! [And yes, although the nature of this injury is different than the previous one, I too was of the opinion (non medical ^_^) that he should not have played yesterday]. To me Saffold may turn into a good, reliable LT: Skills developing steadily, good size, attitude, etc.
I'm hoping the Rams will keep RS and include him to form a cohesive OL.
All the best to the young man in his recuperation.

I'm sorry peepants, but I have to disagree on both points. Saffold, who was an All-Rookie his first year, has had separate injuries to 3 separate body parts. That's not "injury-prone"; that's just football and bad luck. Danario Alexander and his 5 knee operations.......THAT's injury prone.
And Fisher's best years had an O-line that included Brad Hopkins at LT and Bruce Matthews at LG......both 1st round picks. After Hopkins left, he was replaced by 2nd round pick Michael Roos.
Fisher has always had a 1st or 2nd rounder at LT.

But he has never drafted an offensive lineman in the first round....

I was thinking about how much Fisher got and is getting out of the OL. Remember last year? Coaching matters. So glad we dot that guy!! I think Saffold is far from done but interested to see what Fisher has up his sleeve each week.
Re: Update on Saffold injury: 3rd degree MCL sprain, out at least 4 weeks
This may sound a bit odd, but I'm glad it was something other than his neck. When he first went down I was worried that he may have really messed it up big this time. Glad to hear he should be fine in a few weeks.
Re: Update on Saffold injury: 3rd degree MCL sprain, out at least 4 weeks
Thats unfortunate lets hope for a speedy recovery

I can't wait until the day this man moves to RT and we draft a true LT (we are unable to find one in FA).

Everything in its season. Nobody serves canned worms after Labor Day. Don't be tacky, MoG ;)
