    Update on Smith visit

This should put things to rest...

--Jim Thomas, Rams beat writer in St. Louis, said that Ziggy sent him a message earlier today that neither he nor Linehan had any knowledge of Smith having a visit. Thomas speculated that Smith's agent is putting out these rumors to drive up the price for Smith.
I guess we'll see who is right.

    --Bernie says
They are NOT interested in Robaire Smith -- no visits scheduled.

    --B

--Bernie Miklaz show on radio tonight, it was announced that the Rams are NOT bringing him in... but will address DT/NT in draft because the Rams are not enamored with any of the remaining DT/NT candidates.

Well, I wasn't all that impressed with the idea of Smith as our nose tackle so I can't say I'm torn up about this one.

He's from Webb City, MO. A good 3 or 4 hours away from St. Louis...

    Re: Update on Smith visit

Hey, this is my first post on ClanRam. Seems like a great site.

I wouldn't be too disappointed wit hthe Rams not going after Smith. He is far from the solution at DT and I think we'll be better served to try and fill those needs in the draft.

As for Wistrom, I was a big fan in his Ram days but I'd only bring him back if the price was right. He's well past his best though he would make a good depth signing.

Right now, Wistrom is Victor Adeyanju without the youth and the upside.

As for Smith, I think he'd be a nice addition, but I won't cry myself to sleep if the Rams look elsewhere.

Hall will start, unless they draft a DE in the first round who beats him out in camp.

    Re: Update on Smith visit

I personally don't think smith is worth getting his stats last year are about the same as kennedy's

Jimmy Kennedy 2006 stats: 30 tackles 9 assists 1 sack
Robaire Smith 2006 stats: 29 tackles 15 assists 0.5 sack

as far as Wistrom is concerned I loved the guy when he was with the rams he did some great things but he is on the downside of his career and doesn't offer much IMO I would rather see him on the sidelines as a coach rather than a player

I guess Kennedy is officially the third first round bust at DT in 6 years. That's got to be some sort of record doesn't it. Add Lewis and Pickett to Polley, Archuleta, Thomas and Canidate (did I miss anybody) and it makes you wonder what the bleep was the front office thinking.
