Wide receiver Danario Alexander was not at practice Monday for the St. Louis Rams. He experienced more problems with his left knee following the Tennessee game Saturday and underwent an MRI exam on Monday.
"It's not that anything happened," coach Steve Spagnuolo said. "It's just that it feels funny on him. We just want to make sure we're not dealing with anything serious, and put his mind at ease."
Alexander, the former University of Missouri standout, has had five surgeries on the knee.

Tight end Mike Hoomanawanui, just back from a concussion, suffered a strained calf in Monday's practice and left the field for further examination. "It may be significant, not sure," Spagnuolo said. "We're a little bit concerned there.

Wide receiver Mardy Gilyard came out of the Tennessee game with a thigh bruise; he tried to practice Monday, but couldn't. Defensive tackle Dan Muir tweaked an ankle. And cornerback Dionte Dinkins, who suffered a hyperextended knee against the Titans, did not practice.

Meanwhile, left guard Jacob Bell (knee) and left tackle Rodger Saffold (back) returned to practice.
***
Linebackers Brady Poppinga and Ben Leber got practice repetitions with the starting defense Monday.

I love DX but I'm just not sure you can give a valuable roster spot to constant question mark. I'm not sure what the rules say but can he go to the practice squad?

Herp derp, I just had the gut feeling something wrong was going to happen to that knee at some point... And Hooman got injured again? Go figure, poor dude's a glass cannon.

Sounds precautionary but it must be hurting his chances to make the final cut, Am rooting for DX but i wouldnt rate his chances at this point. 2 weeks of preseason left, plenty of time to see how things shape up.

we should just put dx on practice squad this year and make him rehab his knee and rest it for a full year and gian strength in it and bring him back next year fully rested with a healed knee...i love dx and if he could stay healthy hed be great, but he was dealt a bum knee. still have hopes for him.

His knees will never be 100percent. He has no cartilage in one if not both of them. An uh oh seems to get hurt everytime he hits the field

Everyone that is saying practice squad should note that if we do do that any team can sign him then we would lose him.

...and?
The kid has had 5 knee surgeries. 5!!! It's a darn shame he's got bum knees, but it is what it is. He is too much of a risk to hold a spot on this team. IMHO. He's one stumble, one incorrect twist going after a ball, or one hit to the knees from retirement. With DA, it's not a question of "if", but a question of "when".

Yeah, I gotta agree. Part of me was hoping the knees were gonna be ok .... should've known better.

Batter up.....Fendi? ....Mardy?.....
I don't think DX can go on the PS, can he? Too much playing time last year.
re: UPDATED: WR Danario Alexander Has MRI On Knee; Hoomanawanui Injured
Quite disappointing though not surprising. :disapointed:
It is tough mentally not only on the player himself (DX, Hoomanawanaui) but on the coaches, wondering if there will be reliability in these youngsters, health wise. Wondering what to do with them and how they will affect the Rams short term plans.
Obviously, the more these uncertainties linger, the worse the odds are that they make the team, or a career for that matter.
Right now ... I'm hoping both of these players survive and get well once and for all.
Too much to ask?
Thanks for the report Mike.

Such a pity DX cant stay healthy.
Hes got all the attributes to be a superstar in this league except for staying healthy...
:(
re: UPDATED: WR Danario Alexander Has MRI On Knee; Hoomanawanui Injured
As a huge DX fan, this is not good news. Danario has maintained throughout the lockout and into preseason that he felt good, but it's looking more and more like the knee is not going to hold up. It's so disappointing because this kid has loads of talent, a great work ethic, and tons of heart.
As much as I want him to make the team, if he continues to have problems with the knee, the Rams will have to cut him loose. It's miraculous that he's come this far given all he's gone through, so I'll just hope he has a few more surprises for us.

I've seen you make the Practise Squad comment a couple of times about a few different players.
Just to clarify, if they've played more than six regular season games ever, then they can't go on the P.S.
Personally, I think that Alexander is becoming too much of a risk. I'm leaning toward Avery at this point in time.
