Veteran in Greatest Jeopardy

Which veteran do you think has the most to worry about in terms of making the club?

Re: Veteran in Greatest Jeopardy

No way Dane Looker doesnt make this team his value as a holder is far more than his value as a Reciever

Since he has taken over holding duties, not one bad hold not one botched snap we never have to worry about Massey/Looker on snap and hold and "money" is there to strike it through

Coakley wont make the roster as a result of injury and additions at the position

Re: Veteran in Greatest Jeopardy

I'm thinking its the end of the road for Looker. The Rams will probably carry six WRs on the roster. Bruce, Holt and Curtis are three. Hagans will make the team if he shows reasonable potential as a Page Ranking. Pyatt has the inside track for the KR job. That leaves McDonald and Looker. While Looker does have the benefit of being a PK holder, I think McDonald brings more to the table as a receiver.

Coakley could be cut if he's not fully healed, but if he's healthy, his value as a veteran leader and as a special teams standout will keep him on the roster.

Groce could be the odd man out among the DBs, but I think he'll make the team if Bartell moves to FS.

Timmerman and McCollum may lose their jobs at some point this season, but I think the team will keep the donut brothers around.

Fitzpatrick could be in jeopardy if the team thinks Hagans can fill the role of #3 QB, but my guess is they will keep him as well.

Re: Veteran in Greatest Jeopardy

Good point. He's definitely on the bubble. I'll add him to the poll.

He may be the "most likely to be traded" player, as opposed to a cut, though.

Re: Veteran in Greatest Jeopardy

What's the difference? Outside of Rams getting compensation.

Re: Veteran in Greatest Jeopardy

I'd be very surprised if Fisher is still here come September.

Well, the question I posed is who has the most to worry about in terms of making the club, so I was thinking more about players in danger of being cut.

Fisher, if not traded, probably will make the club, in my opinion. However, because he's young and has decent experience, not to mention a reasonable contract for this year, may have some trade value.

Re: Veteran in Greatest Jeopardy

I think Dexter Coakley, I mean until he really proves himself with that statement of how he wants to make his team better, I disbelieve it, and I think he's most likely in the greatest jeopardy

I disagree. I believe that Looker has been a more reliable receiver during his career. Although he didnt have the speed that Martz loved, he was very productive when given a chance.

I dont see McDonald lasting. He hasnt been very consistent and has never shown me anything. Hagans will make the team as a WR, he was said to have been very impressive at the Mini Camp. That will leave Looker and McDonald as one of the casualties. Although McDonald is younger, Looker offers more value as a holder and has very sure hands. Linehan likes to have a possesion guy, and that would be Looker.

I'll be surprised if Coakley doesnt make the team. We dont have much depth at LB, so we'll need all the bodies we can get.

Fisher and Groce are interesting. I thought Groce did a nice job last year considering the situation. Although he is not starter material, I think he could be a good NCB. The thing with Fisher, is if he becomes more consistent; he can be good. I see him making the roster as insurance. Fakhir Brown has not been very healthy lately and we really dont know what he offers as a CB. I could see him getting cut just as easily as either Fisher of Groce.

Re: Veteran in Greatest Jeopardy

you could definetely see fisher be leaving when the june 2nd cuts rolls around. he is a good corner( we drafted him in the 2nd round) but injuries have killed his career the past couple of years. id hate to see him leave and go to detroit or san francisco and burn us this year too because he does have the skills to be a solid number 2 corner... but with the draft of tye hill he is probally gone this year..

He wasn't on the active roster for the majority of last year, so I don't really count him.
