Veterans Day Salute

From this Navy Veteran to all the other Veterans that post on this board, my utmost respect for sacrificing years of your life so we can have the freedom to even watch the St. Louis Rams in this country that has its faults but I wouldn't trade it for any other country in the world. Veterans, I salute you.

Re: Veterans Day Salute

Good thread, Tx.

Interesting, perhaps ironic, that on the day we celebrate our veterans, and our troops continue to fight against terrorists, one of the most notorious terrorists in the world has passed on.

Re: Veterans Day Salute

Our son Jonathan, our first born, left the last day of October for his basic boot camp training in Camp Pendleton, San Diego. He is now a rookie member of the USMC.

My respect and admiration to all Veterans as well. I'm a Mexican national, but am grateful for the unique reputation and service of the armed forces of this great nation and the principles it defends.

Absolutely: SALUUUUUTE!

Re: Veterans Day Salute

Thought I would submit a link to the website of the ship I was on in the Navy. I was stationed on board the USS-Waddell DDG-24 from Jan 85-Dec 86. My ship was one of the first ships to escort Kuwaiti tankers through the Strait of Hormuz.

Re: Veterans Day Salute

Thanks viper. You don't really realize how much fun you had until you get out and reflect. I was able to sail halfway around the world, I've been to the Arctic Circle where it looked like noon at midnight.

Re: Veterans Day Salute

A small boy; :upset: Hats off to you tx.
I did 4 cruises on the Midway and Independance, and did a short 3 month cruise on a FFG when I was in an HSL squadron.
Man, that small boy cruise had me feeding the fish daily. :mask:

Re: Veterans Day Salute

I never served in the military, which is the case for the majority of Americans who, in turn, live under the freedom that we did not help create nor defend. We are the ones who owe the biggest debt of gratitude to those few who did pay for the freedoms in our lives. To Tx, Augusta, Ramman68, SSG, and every other current or former member of the armed services...an eternal thank you.
