Video:The teams view of the game

Thanks. From the footage of that video I saw the reason Bulger got sacked so much is because he held the ball for 6+ seconds. Its no wonder

Re: Video:The teams view of the game

    Some general comments...

There are advantages to having a stopwatch on your cell phone. The video shows two sacks at around the 1:20 mark. In the first, four seconds elapsed from the time the ball was hiked to the time Bulger hit the ground - slightly over three and a half seconds from the snap to the time Bulger had to turn away to try and avoid Carter (I believe). The second sack shown took five seconds, but it seemed to be in slow-mo rather than real game speed. I didn't see him hold onto anything in either clip for 6+ seconds.

On both plays, Rex Tucker failed to adequately block his man, allowing the defender to get around him and into the pocket. On the first sack, Tucker's defender sacked Bulger. On the second, Bulger seemed to feel pressure from his right and pulled the ball down as if to take off and run, only to find that Timmerman/McCollum had gotten pushed back off the line, and that 49er defenders were in those gaps, albeit on their hands and knees.

Well, that's only two of the seven sacks, so you could be right. I didn't see the game because of local broadcasting so I don't know what happened on those other five sacks.

I'm just not sure four seconds from snap to being planted is enough to find guys if they're running 10-15 yard routes downfield.

I would have prefered to see the Rams counter and adjust to what the ***** were doing with differences in playcalling. Maybe some screens, shorter slants, three or five step drops. Something like that to try to cover up any protection problems you may have.
