Vincent Jackson anyone?
What do you guys think of us acquiring Vincent Jackson?
Hes 6'5, and has a good vertical. He gives us a deep threat, and a redzone threat. He offers a go-to-guy for Sam and is the #1 WR we've been looking for.
I was also thinking Stan Kroenke is coming here and is ready to turn this ship around and start winning. He has a lot of money to spend and I'm sure he is willing to spend it on a good player. There is a downside as he is suspended for 3 games.
I'm not sure where I land on this topic, but it makes a bit of sense and at the same time it doesn't.

Re: Vincent Jackson anyone?
of course, but what would it take? for a 2nd rounder i would probably be willing to make the move, but not a first.
on a somewhat unrelated note i'm really hoping brandon gibson gets healthy and back into the mix soon, we need more (or at least one) physical receivers like this who can force the issue and create separation and he seemed to do a solid job of that last year.

Re: Vincent Jackson anyone?
I would give a second rounder for him, provided he signed a reasonable contract. The problem is, he isn't willing to sign a reasonable contract. That is why he is probably leaving San Diego and hasn't been traded elsewhere.
Also, you have to remember that trading for Jackson means us taking on his 3 game suspension, and probably another 3 game suspension depending when he is signed by. So we could give a second rounder for a guy who will miss a bunch of time this season.

Re: Vincent Jackson anyone?
I think he should demand something near brandon marshall money wise and draft pick wise. Will new owner Kroenke step up to the plate and do something like that. I hope so that would definately put his stamp on the franchise energize the fan base and more importantly Sam Bradford.

Re: Vincent Jackson anyone?
Why would San Diego want to get rid of him when he's their main receiver?

Re: Vincent Jackson anyone?
It's time for some Shock n' Awe!!!! I like most fans have been very patient throughout this rebuilding process. But it's time for this team to shift into a higher gear. The VJAX & SJAX duo will go a long way in supporting Bradford. Its just what this teams needs to have a breakout season and take the preasure off our rookie Qb. I'm not asking for a playoff win, just some hope and to beat the whiners now and then. We don't have any #1 reciving threat, and VJAX fills a big need. Who cares if he sits out 3 games, he has to learn the plays anyway and get back in shape.
As for the money, it prbly wont be anymore then a first rnd WR taken next year. If we cold aquire him for a 2nd rnd pick, all the better.Last edited by The Optimistic Lamb; -08-26-2010 at 02:05 PM.

Re: Vincent Jackson anyone?
I said yes, but I forgot about the suspension. Vincent comes with a shady past with off field issues (2 DWI's). His ability at receiver would fit in nicely with the Rams offense lead by a Rookie QB in Bradford and would greatly enhance the running game, taking some of the pressure off Steven Jackson to be the sole offensive weapon.
One things for sure, the Rams certainly need a bigtime receiver, Vincent Jackson is ideal, but comes with alot of baggage....Isn't that always the case![SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Re: Vincent Jackson anyone?
I gave a conditional "Yes" vote, but I would load any contract offer with incentives and "Opt-out" clauses... which would almost guarantee his refusal to sign. Catch-22, anyone? His skills are impressive, BUT...

Bradford to V-Jax, TD Rams!!!
Bradford to S-Jax, TD Rams!!!!!!
Will Kroenke turn that wet dream into a reality?

Re: Vincent Jackson anyone?
If Avery got hurt as bad as it looked, then I think we NEED to acquire a legit receiver. If VJAX is gettable, we have to pull the trigger.

Re: Vincent Jackson anyone?
We gotta get somebody, especially now that Avery is probably out for a while.

Re: Vincent Jackson anyone?
We should definitely explore trades, but lets not assume Jackson is the only guy available. He might easily be the best of the bunch though
