Wait over: Rams entering contract talks w/ Les Snead

    Per Jim Thomas

Rams entering contract talks w/atlantas les snead to make him teams new gm.
As said by Rammed in the other thread but I thought it was worthy of its own thread and we can discuss the hire in this one.

Personally very excited. Comes from an awesome organization that has had success in both areas of the game (pro and college scouting), and Snead oversaw both departments. Very excited about the future and hire, and very excited for the press conference

Hopefully he can orchestrate a trade down for us ala the trade up he was an integral part in Atl. Welcome to StL Les!

Quality hire, IMO. He's learned at the feet of a good one in Thomas Demitroff. He's young, but comes from what looks to be a good organization. I guess time will tell.

But one thing's for sure: he could be in a coma and tell you more about proper player evaluation than Jay Zygmunt.

I can only hope that he was actually responsible for many of the good finds, and not so many of the busts. My first question: did you support bringing in Dunta Robinson? My second: How can you use your experience in getting fleeced for Julio Jones(after 1 year anyway) to do the fleecing for RGIII?
    I believe!

Just saw the Rams news. St. Louis got a good football man in Les Snead. Very good move. -- AlbertBreer (@AlbertBreer)

I like the hiring. Snead was in my opinion the best GM prospect. Lets hope he can start bringing in what we've been missing.

Just what we Sneaded! (Okay, so its not as good as "Linsanity" but it works!). Or, maybe I should say "that's one Les Snead to fill."

I'm just glad it's over. No matter who they picked, they obviously know way more about them than anyone here so as with all the other GM/Coaches, I'll love 'em until they give me a reason not to. Hopefully we can get some winning seasons out of all this because I'm pretty tired of losing.

In this case, AV, I think Les is more!

The Falcons last three drafts leave a little to be desired IMO, but Dimitroff has the final say so I'll reserve judgment until we see what Snead does here in St. Louis.

For the record, he did not get "fleeced" on Julio Jones. He went out and got the guy that everyone in the organization wanted to get as a player that they thought could put them over the top. There is no reason to believe that they could have gotten him for any less. This guy was not the GM or the coach or the owner, he was not the decision maker on that deal. Jones had an excellent rookie year and is a terrific receiver. There is nothing wrong with a guy that evaluated jones as an impact player.

I just read where it was "Paton's job to lose".

    ...guess he lost it.

    But I like the hire.

Paton decided to stay with the Vikings after they gave him a fancy new job title and pay raise.

I'd be interested to see what Falcon fans have to say about this guy. Hopefully we will have a visitor who can fill us in.

I was just reading a blog on CBS sports, and overall the Falcon's fans are sad to see him go. Of course, amongst the blogs were the usual "Rams suck" and "they did it backward" (hiring a HC before the GM) but usually the Rams get no respect in those things anyway...

But the Falcon's seemed to like him and spent more time talking about the Falcons failures rather than what the Rams may have gained.
