We have no pass rush of any kind

We are not getting into the same area code of mcnabb. As i pointed out all week, i dont care who their receivers are, without pressure on mcnabb, we are dead in the secondary. Our coverage is horrible of course, but without a pass rush, there is just no pulse on our defense.\

When you combine the complete lack of a pass rush with no ability of any kind to protect bulger, you have what amounts to a pathetic beyond belief first half.

The good news is that donnie jones looks like an all pro.

One other thing. If pace false starts in the second half, we will have the distinction of having a false start from every single offensive lineman in the same game, something i have never seen in 40 years of watching nfl football.

Football is decided at the line of scrimmage and we are getting killed on both sides of the ball.

Lord help us against the giants, but hope springs eternal and the game is at home.

I've been watching the "pass rush" and I do have one bright spot to report:

Chris Long is the only one even getting close to the QB. He's not getting sacks, but there were a few big stops that resulted in McNabb passing too soon because Long was about to break free on him.

He's also been fairly good against the run. So he at least, looks reasonable.

Now we just have to figure out the other 10 people..

Great post. Couldn't have said it any better. Chris Long is doing good. And thats what we need out of him. But what about the other 10? Everybody has made tackles, but we need some coverage.

We should be looking at potential draft picks for next season. Preferably a few DB's and a defensive end.

Yes thats true, but it seems like everyone we draft turns out to be a bust no matter the position.

For the few times we did blitz, the Eagles easily picked up the rushers- they seemed to know what Haslett was going to do before he did. Haslett is boring and predictable. He rushes the same guys from the same places in the same situations- exotic blitz packages my arse.

He seems like he's always just a step behind- which is a good thing because several weeks ago, he was trailing badly. If he continues to improve, he's going to be pretty good.
