We need a new QB badly.....
Now that we are in a new system A.J. Feely has now lost his value. We need a veteren QB that has played in a system like McD's for two reasons. As a backup for Sammy B and we also need someone to help Sam learn the system. A. J. can do neither of those so we need a new qb this offseason also imo.
edit: also another reason being I am pretty sure the coaches are forbidden to talk to the players but players can talk to each other about gameplans. So if there is a lockout that would be the only way Sam could learn from someone else.

Re: We need a new QB badly.....
Valid point, but do you know any QB's off the top of your head that are available and played in McDainels system?

Re: We need a new QB badly.....
Maybe McD can mold AJ Feeley into a glorious franchise backup quarterback?

Why not pay to Kurt Warner for QB Coach?
Bad news, Sammy is not Rookie of the year.

You know...the title of this thread can be very misleading.

Re: We need a new QB badly.....
How do you plan on signing a QB when it's impossible to sign free agents?

Re: We need a new QB badly.....
Ya I know thats why you read the the thread so it worked to lure you in lol
edit: ok you got me on that one rebel.
But assuming they get the cba worked out to were we can I still think we need to sign one to help mentor Sam in camp and be there as a relible backup that knows the system.

Re: We need a new QB badly.....
By my count, the only QB's still in the league that were part of an offense when McDaniels was the OC are Chris Simms, Matt Gutierrez, and Kevin O'Connell..I don't know their current status as members of other rosters, but I'm really not sure I want any of them A) Teaching Bradford anything, or B) Be a backup in case the unmentionable happens. Perhaps the Rams would bring in someone as a "consultant" ie Vinny Testaverde, but then whats the point? Anything he could teach Bradford, McDaniels could too.
I know one of the writers shot down the idea, but I still would support keeping Josh's brother off the staff and have him work with Bradford until a CBA gets agreed to..nothing in the rules says they can't. Hire him later with an understanding or something..I don't know, I understand the desire to get the ball rolling asap on his learning.

Re: We need a new QB badly.....
I think if Josh get's his way that Feely will be out of here the
very second the CBA comes to an agreement. Josh might be a good OC, but
he's terrible at evaluating talent, he dismembered the Bronco's roster and
pissed off a ton of their fans. However, I personally wouldn't mind seeing
Freely taking a walk. He was brought in to teach Bradford Shumurs offense and
since Shumur is no longer around, I don't see any reason why AJ should stick
around either. Personally, I could live without a veteran QB on the roster. Why
not get Null back and focus on developing him and Lewis? It would probably save
a lot of money and at least there would be the potential for an upside.
Also, there is talk that the free agency could happen AFTER the draft if
things take to long to get resolved.

Re: We need a new QB badly.....
This is a huge misconception of him being horrible at evaluating talent... Broncos fans were already pissed off to begin with when Cutler was traded and they put the blame on McDaniels (when Bowlen came out and said he was the one that told McDaniels to do it), and then when he traded Marshall... two deals in which he was right on.
Before McDaniels got there, the roster turnover from the previous year was huge... 29 of the players that were on the Broncos from the previous year, and before, were no longer in the NFL after they had been cut or let go. Think about that for a second... that way over half a 53 man roster and pretty much letting you know he's working with bottom of barrel talent to begin with.
At the end of the day, this doesn't matter because he probably won't have any final say in St. Louis of the roster... but all I'm trying to say is there was a huge misconception of McDaniels during his time in Denver... Most people probably didn't know he went 8-8 his first season, and all they remember is trading Cutler and Marshall.
Denver is a city full of idiots... trust me I'm a Broncos "fan".

Re: We need a new QB badly.....
If we can't find another McDaniels guy, would a veteran who's had experience in a spread offense be the next best thing?
