But this team isn't going on to the playoffs this year. You have the perfect storm scenarios listed above. It's just too much to ask for all that to go right, and for the Rams to suddenly become world beaters. If the Rams can find a way to beat the Whiners next week (I for one do not see that happening) then maybe I'll start to begin to believe, but until then. No way. I see the Rams losing to the Whiners and Seahawks at a minimum, with a very tough game against the Bucs and possible cold weather game at Buffalo as possible losses. I think a 5-win, 6-win max season is still at hand. Too many ifs right now. Had the Rams taken care of business against the Lions, Dolphins and Jets as they should have, and won the game against the Whiners that they had in the palm of their hands (or should I say the foot of GZ?) this conversation would have a lot more meat to it and not so many ifs. But it is what it is....
Next year, this team should not need the "if" factor. They will be contenders.
As much as I would love to see the RAMS make the playoffs, I have to agree with RAMFANR8RH8R.
Here is what I posted on the RAMpager FB page.
While a Wildcard spot would be AWESOME, considering last year, but it is a pipe dream. The only reason we beat the skidbirds is because they were so pathetic that they couldn't win even with the officials helping them. The RAMS will have to have a whole lot better production from the Offense, and the Defense needs to get back to what it was doing the first few games. If they can do those things, they may have a shot.

Re: We still got a shot at Wild Card
I think we will all be happy if we can be competitive throughout the rest of the schedule.
Our wins are really going to be determined by which team decides to show up that week. Each of them have shown good play and bad play, like we have. I think our two toughest will be the ***** and the Bucs.
I say we go: Loss @ Niners , Win@ Bills, Win@ Vikes . Loss@Bucs, Win@Seattle
Re: We still got a shot at Wild Card
With the Saints loosing, one piece of the puzzle falls in our favor. PLAYOFFS BABY!!!!!
No sour replys please. Keep the faith!!!
Re: We still got a shot at Wild Card
After todays win, we just jumped up three spots in the wild card race. Still needed Seattle to loose though. Now we hold the tie breaker on the Whiners. I'm hoping for a complete collapse of the Whiners. They still have some tough games ahead for them. Now we need a Tampa Bay loss and Dallas loss today.
Come on get some more enthusiasm about this run, WE CAN PULL THIS OFF!!!!!!!
Re: We still got a shot at Wild Card
While I know that the playoffs is not out of grabs lets just enjoy this win
Re: We still got a shot at Wild Card
The good news is that it's December and we're still watching football with interest. (It's been what, 7 years?)
As for the Wild Card, The Rams accomplished the first piece of the puzzle with a win vs. SF. Only realistic chance is to win out, but that's only 4 games now, so is not impossible. (Well, maybe after watching this offense).
But for giggles, using the scenario where we win out: (what, Jenkins can score 14 every game, right?)
Green Bay/Chicago, get the first Wild Card Spot, the other wins their division. So leaves only 1 wild card spot to play for...
The next 3 in line are Seattle, Tampa, and Minnesota. Based on today's results:
The Rams tie means that if we win out, we get to 9-6-1. ANY of the other teams fighting for the last wild card spot would then need to have 10 wins to beat us, since 9-6-1 is better than 9-7. We play Tampa and Minnesota, SO IF WE BEAT THEM, THEY CAN NOT GET TO 10 wins. So we ALMOST control our own destiny.
Seattle can win 2 of their next 3 and we still would get in if we beat them in that 4th and final game.
As I write this, Dallas and Wash have not played yet, but with 5 wins a piece, they would need to win 5 straight to get to 10 wins, which will be tough.
Point being, "IF" we were to win our last 4, there aren't a lot of reasonable scenario's where we don't get that last spot.
1 down...4 to go.

uhm we were in a very similar position in 2010. In fact a better position when you consider we only had to win the final game to make the playoffs.

Yeah and DX let an easy TD sail between his hands and then didn't make a tough catch along the sidelines and everyone seemingly wants the dude back in a Rams' uniform. No thanks, I'll stick with our flawed WR corps and flawed offense "as is" for now and hope for better days than anything I saw from DX or a lot of players from that choker of a team.
Rams likely won't be in the playoffs this year and I don't know if anyone realistically expected that to begin with. What I saw today is a team that is trying to turn the corner and is figuring out to win instead of lose and that's the kind of progress I like to see in Year 1 of rebuilding yet again. This time, the rebuild looks on a lot more solid track.

Fixed that for you, unless you did mean "Win", then we would be 8-7-1.
I like the way you put this together, and hope it comes out that way. Although, Eagles look like they are more prepared than Dallas tonight.

First of all I cut and pasted it from another site, and tweaked it with the current standings. And if the Eagles beat the Cowboys tonight that is even better for us!!!!!!!
After looking at everyting. I know it's a long shot to make the playoffs, But mathematically speaking we could actually still win the division, even if the Whiners still win another game. The whiners would have to loose thee of their next four games. Highly unlikely of course, but damn the cards certainly have fallen for us this week.
Re: We still got a shot at Wild Card
It would take a lot but we have a shot,we play the 3 teams that are ahead of us in the standings in the next 4 weeks. If we win out and get a little bit of luck we might be able to do it.Obviously winning out is alot harder than it sounds but it is kind of in our hands.Who knows, this team is tricky we play games like this with the *****,a top 5 team in the league. And then lay an egg and loose to the Jets so nothing is a given.Part of being a young team learning how to win.

My bad...yeah, we did have a run at the Division in Bradford's rookie year... I guess I forgot because both us and Seattle were trying to prove you didn't need to have a winning record to win the division!
Re: We still got a shot at Wild Card
I really think the Seahawks have to be the favorites. They are in the lead right now, have the easiest schedule, Wilson is playing very well and have 3 of their final 4 at home. The biggest concern for them is how they deal with losing their two elite corners. Their pass defense is probably their biggest strength and key to much of their success. Losing their two best(arguably with Thomas also back there) defensive backs could hurt their defense badly(imagine if we lost Jenkins and Finnegan).
The Cowboys, on the other hand, have the most difficult schedule with Cincy, Pittsburgh, Saints, and Redskins.
I think we have the 2nd softest schedule. First things first we have to win at Buffalo this week. The Bills aren't a bad team and I'm worried we may get caught up in a shoot out against a team that has more offensive weapons than us.
