What 5 things would YOU add to get the crowd going at the Ed?

What 5 things would you add to get the crowd more involved in the game at the Ed Dome?

Be as creative as you like but just remember that they have to be practicle.

Re: What 5 things would YOU add to get the crowd going at the Ed?

Here are my 5

1) add 4 Ram mascots to the sidelines, one for each endzone and one for either sideline. These should be very animated.

2) get one tune and stick to it, make it catchy and easy for the fans to sing along to.

3) stop having WHITE T shirt days and get with the programme, its BLUE AND GOLD

4) Get rid of the red seat, bring in the blue

5) tighten up on the advertising announcements

Re: What 5 things would YOU add to get the crowd going at the Ed?

1) Have fan promotions to get us riled up
2) Have "The Ram" and make him one crazy dude
3) Better and different songs than rest of NFL
4) Awesome Jumbotron games w/ funny player interviews
5) A good defense

Re: What 5 things would YOU add to get the crowd going at the Ed?

1. A live DJ/announcer who can work the crowd! (not too hard to do....)
2. A "Defense" song, one that starts off fast and quiet, but builds up, kinda like "Thunderstruck" does.
3. Put on a show - football shouldn't need anything else, but if you had a choice, would you take plain vanilla or the "Banana Split Ultra-Supreme"? During the team intros, pyrotechnics and lasers; add more 'flash' for TD's, etc.
4. Add a "Beat the Zebra" show, having a fan or mascot beating the crap out of a stuffed Zebra whenever there is a really lousy penalty call.
5. ?

Of course, some of these are being done to a half-hearted extent. Hire a pro to come in and set up something. Kiss didn't get to be so popular because they had good music; What put them on top was the stage show.

Re: What 5 things would YOU add to get the crowd going at the Ed?

1) I'm sure many of us ask the question, why do college fans seem to get into the games so much and have so much more fun? The band, that's why.

What do you get at NFL pre-games? The answer is nothing, unless you're the first game of the season and then you'll get an overdone, loud, and annoying pre-game show. And if you're not that lucky all you get to do is watch the players warm up.

What do you get at college pre-games? The answer is a 200+ member marching band that has rich tradition and passion that has practiced for weeks to perform for you. If you think this is a weak point than you obviously haven't seen the USC, Texas, Michigan, Ohio State, Georgia, or any other marching band perform live during a pre-game.

I always love that part of college football. Nothing gets you more into the game than spirited live music after scores, defensive stops, or timeouts.

I know of only one NFL team that has a band, the Baltimore Ravens. There may be more, but I'm not aware of them.

2) A team song. I love it when in Philly all the fans sing the Eagles Fight Song. It's quite moving really, and makes me jealous of the fun they have as fans at their games.

3) Been saying this for awhile. Ditch the stupid red seats and bring in blue ones. At least then when gaze around the stadium it will LOOK like their are Ram fans in the seats.

4) Mascots roaming the audience. I'd love to see at least 2 traditional Rams mascots in costumes roaming the stands doing goofy stuff to get people involved.

5) Cheaper ticket prices. I think if the ticket prices were lowered more real football fans could afford season tickets, not just the rich boring old people who like to drink their wine in a plastic cup and sit there and not cheer.

Re: What 5 things would YOU add to get the crowd going at the Ed?

Ramfan has the rite idea on a college type band and team song. That would be my #1 and 2 picks also.

3.) pregame show after player introduction to get the fans and players riled up for the game. Like a giant screen highlighting big plays, big hits, with thunderous sounds from speakers all over the stadium. Like the ultimate fighter BOOM!! theme song.

4.) Mascots in all corners of the stadium that encourages fans to get loud and make the other teams fans feel really out of place.

5.) More wins!!!

Its all about the fans, the team, how you market the game. Keeping it alive and getting everyone involved from beginning to end, win or lose. Everyone has good ideas and it will only take the winning combination to fill the Ed to capacity again year in and year out.

More wins. Right on.

And more information. Kill me with it. If Bulger needs eighty-two yards to get his twenty thousand; let me know. If Steven Jackson needs sixteen yards to get his hundred; by gum don't let it get by. If Georgia has entered the building throwing kisses and hundred dollar bills let me know where.

One thing they need to do is stop throwing people out for standing up and being loud. That would be a good start.

1.Change those ugly red seats.
2.Go back to the rams royal blue and gold everynow and then, like an alternative jersey that other teams have.
3.I agree, we need a fight song, and yes I do think the eagles song is kind of cool.Soccer fans have something similar and it's actually very impressive, when you get 70000 people to sing a song.
4.A ferocious Defense.
5.An owner who wants to win.

Did this happen to you, did you see it happen, or what? I'd be interested in hearing the full story.

One thing that would be very cool is to have an actual Ram on the sideline and have it run out with the players at the start of every game. That would be a very cool touch just like when the Seachickens have an actual bird at their games.

Re: What 5 things would YOU add to get the crowd going at the Ed?

1. Get a real Big Horn Sheep. Have him lead the players when they come out of the tunnel.

2. Change the red seats to Navy Blue, so even if there isn't a fan in the seat its harder to notice.

3. Change the lighting, way to damn dark in there.

4. Promos. Such as a Free Hat day, or Free T-shirt or something.

5. Change the DJ, this man must be 70 with the music he plays. St. Louis is known as a 'rap' city play some rap/rock music from TODAY not yesturday.

No it's never happened to me but I've read other people's stories about it happening to them. From what I know it dosen't happen in the upper seats, where the real fans sit, it happens down in the season ticket holder seats, where all the corporate fat cats sit.

I read one guy's story who seemed credible to me that said during the Skins game toward the end, him and his buddy stood up and started to cheer and yell and such, when 2 guys a couple of rows back started complaining and telling them to sit down and shut up. Well they didn't sit down and eventually an usher came with security and escorted them out of the dome.

I had heard of this happening before, and some other people chimed in and said they knew of it happening as well. Unbelievably some people actually said they should have been thrown out and complained about noisy fans who stand. Until that problem gets fixed we will never have a home field advantage when it comes to crowd noise.

Re: What 5 things would YOU add to get the crowd going at the Ed?

First off, Great Thread!!

I dont know if I would change the seats to blue. It would be cool, but that doesnt change things if you are at the game so much. maybe on TV.

1) I love the idea of actual RAMS. Mascots are cool, but live animals are awesome.

2) Love the idea of a band. that would be really nice.

3) Fights songs are always fun. How did philly and washington get theirs? Fans make it up, or is it played at their home games over the PA system.

4) Less commercials... more music...especially when we are on Defense and need a big stop. (I think there is a rule against playing music while they are in the huddle though. Nick, AV any info on that?)

5) Mandatory face paint.

**and for the record. STL is not known as a "Rap" city. Nelly and the St. Lunatics came out of here 5-6 yrs ago. if anything, it is known for its Jazz and Blues. Hence the hockey team, St. Louis Blues.

The STL could also be known for its Spirituals. Hence the old Basketball team, the St Louis Spirits. Or how about 'Bird Calls', Hence the baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals.
