Re: What to do with Doughnut Brothers
I'm not sure what value cutting them brings us. With the dwindling FA pool out there (before it even begins), what's the purpose of cutting them? As long as they assume backup/mentor roles, why not keep them around?

Re: What to do with Doughnut Brothers
I tend to agree with HUb. They would be solid backups and invaluable as mentors to our new young squires on the o-line.

Re: What to do with Doughnut Brothers
Timmerman is still very good and an above avg starter, so if they both take minor pay cuts keep them both, if you let 1 go the other will retire or follow the other.

Re: What to do with Doughnut Brothers
The line seemed to be better with them in there. But then again, the line seemed to get better as the youngsters molded!

Re: What to do with Doughnut Brothers
Why not keep them, there is no real reason to cut them. We have plenty of money under the cap and they can at least help our younger guys learn.

Re: What to do with Doughnut Brothers
if nothing else the depth will be great especially since our line always has injuries , with such a demanding position I think depth is a must

Re: What to do with Doughnut Brothers
I wouldn't lose sleep if they got cut, but at the same time, what value would that bring to the team? Cutting AT saves us $1.3 M........but for what? This FA pool is so thin, it looks like we're going to have a hard time spending the money we have. The talent still out there will be able to demand sick money from teams with more cap space than us, and what is left over won't be much of an improvement anyway.
So I guess I just don't see the benefit to cutting them."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Re: What to do with Doughnut Brothers
Cutting just Timmerman saves us 1.3 million dollars. True we may not be able to spend that this year but who knows it may not save us as much money if we cut him next year. I don't know if it is just me but I don't hink Timmerman has been even an average guard the last couple of years. Plus the fact is he is 35 and coming off a serious injury. If i were to keep either it would be McCollum because I am not as confident in our center position as I am of our young guards.
