What is it that the "experts" just don't get about the 2009 Rams?
Most of us think the "experts" are underestimating the 2009 Rams. What aspect of the team do you think they are overlooking the most?
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Voted for #2, but have to add management to coaching staff. Cannot be overstated, (in fact, I started a thread about it.

Its got to be the coaching staff and the FO that is dedicated to success. I voted for #2. The other options are subtexts to this point IMO.
Go Rams!

Re: What is it that the "experts" just don't get about the 2009 Rams?
I voted for #1. I believe that when most people think of the Rams they imagine in their mind's eye the high-flying, high-risk aerial circus of the GSOT days. Many just laughed it off and few really believe Spags when he says he wants to build a power running type of team; yet just about every move we've made this offseason has pushed us in just that direction. To wit: The acquisition of the Jasons (Brown and Smith), Mike Karney and Billy Bajema. Spags even kept our OL coach-Steve Loney- and moved veteran coach Art Valero over to assist him.
I get the feeling that he is very serious and commited to running this kind of offense and most will not believe it until they see it.
Well we'll soon see.
WHAT SAY YE?

Re: What is it that the "experts" just don't get about the 2009 Rams?
Voted for the coaching(and management) staff. All of these players are at the top of their games. They wouldn't be on any NFL roster if they weren't. Even the Lions should have won a couple games last year, and the Dolphins were clearly a better team than they showed two seasons ago. The difference? Coaching.
The powerful personalities in both Devaney and Spags are showing that this team will be better than we have been, and that we're building a team the right way. That'll make the players give it their all, it'll motivate them to a much greater degree than we've had the last three years.
Of course, part of that is a better O line, the young players have a chance to gel and become great together in their primes, and they will be hungry to prove everyone out there wrong about them. But it all starts with the coach.

I think our running game is going to take everyone by surprise. People know how good S Jax is, but they are gong to be shocked when he emerges as one of the greatest running backs of all time. It's going to take more than just one outstanding season, but I think this is the year Jackson establishes himself firmly as the best running back of this era.

The second I voted for, underestimating the coaching staff...
I think having a young , hungry, and energised team sits with my first point.

These guys are young and hungry with a rebuilt o-line and a new outlook with a new coaching staff that will maximise the potential of or young guys. The Rams will be the Falcons of 09

I voted for #1 but when it comes to the Rams and the "Experts"... I really wanted to vote for the first four.
No respect I tell you... no respect at all.

I went with how quickly the young guys come together,a new coaching staff can change the attitude but the coaches don't play, which makes them only as good as the players they have,so getting them to reach "there potential" will be key because in the end the young players will make the Rams better.

Re: What is it that the "experts" just don't get about the 2009 Rams?
This thread is what scares me about the Rams this year. Everyone is all hyped up on the Rams and this coaching staff and if they don't produce, who are you going to blame? Fans rarely admit they over estimated (blame themselves) so will we be reading multiple "Spags needs to go" threads in October and November because we didn't make a massive turnaround in one season?

I think it is impossible to actually say anything about an underrated running game, when all the experts are so highly ranking Jackson for the next season in both normal news and fantasy.

Re: What is it that the "experts" just don't get about the 2009 Rams?
you'll have to allow me to see their 16 regular season games before i can answer your question as to who would be to blame.
ps. as long as the team plays with intensity and not that lackluster approach we've seen from them the last few years (regardless of the number of W's they compile)... you won't see any bad mouthing of Spags from me.
