What Fisher brings is not about systems or schemes.
Jeff Fisher is not some whiz-kid with a offensive system that dazzles the Sportscenter anchors.
Jeff Fisher is not a defensive innovator who built his legend by shutting down a high powered offense.
We've been down those roads.
Jeff Fisher is something we haven't had in a while. Maybe since Dick Vermiel.
A proven leader.
Jeff Fisher knows what it takes to be in charge. He knows how to build and manage a coaching staff. He knows how to set up and run a training camp. He understands and has experience being the head coach on game day.
Don't underestimate the value of this experience.
The job of Head Coach is different from offensive or defensive coordinator. Not every great coordinator has what it takes to be the top dog.
We've learned this the hard way several times.
Now we have a true Head Coach.
Finally.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

couldnt agree more. as long as he acts like a real HC, and not meddles with the coordinators ill be happy. true HC's are not the same as what spags did. they act as bosses while letting the coordinators do there thing. he runs the team.
a leader doesnt run the offense or defense, he just makes sure everyone is doing there job. which i hope is what fisher will do.

Absolutely. Leadership is what it's all about. You need not look any further to illustrate that point than what Mike Singletary did last year versus what Jim Harbaugh is doing with SF this year with virtually the same roster. Jeff Fisher brings instant credibility to a franchise in dire need of direction.

Re: What Fisher brings is not about systems or schemes.
You need a leader. not a meddler. Not a control freak. A leader. Great leaders lead, they delegate and allow for others to lead as well. Great leaders listen to others and take into account their perspective. Leaders of organizations set their collective team up for success and allow for them to lead and build with thier respective style all under the auspice of the overarching goals and objectives laid out by the top dog.
Jeff Fisher IMO is this type of leader.
And as suggested in this thread, this has been sorely lacking in Rams park since Vermeil.

Fisher has to be excited. He took a year off to recharge the batteries and has been signed on to take over a team that has talent. A team that has been yearning for a leader. Someone that can motivate, kick butt and at the same time gain the trust and respect of his players. We are in for an exiting run with our new leader, Jeff Fisher!

Agreed. I think he will bring good systems and schemes with his coordinators. But he brings a sense of toughness, physicality, and leadership that this team desperately needs. If we can see the face of jeff fisher in all of our players when they play, I would be damn happy

Re: What Fisher brings is not about systems or schemes.
So, does this mean we won't start bashing his choices for OC and DC respectively before the draft and training camp? We are actually going to let him do what he has been hired to do without complaining before a real game is even played? Surely not! I must be hallucinating ..

Re: What Fisher brings is not about systems or schemes.
Another thing the hiring of Fisher does is it allows the players to buy in to his philosophy a lot faster than previous coaches because his experience immediately demands respect from his players.

How about Fisher brings an experienced coaching staff... read a lot of Ram players said that this was Spags down fall.
