    Re: What happened to Brock??

What happened to Brock you ask? Good one, 29J... :x

Well, after his 'incredible' year in the NFL, an odd flash-in-the-pan experience, (somewhat similar to The Twilight Zone being that he was then considered an NFL rookie and still holds Rams rookie records for yards passed, TDs, and QB rating [!]) ... he was inducted into the Canadian Football League HOF in 1995.

Months ago in GC's 'My Rams HOF' thread I mentioned that Dieter Brock "was the man" in 1985 (again, rather unbelievable but true); that's when he enjoyed his 15 min. of fame.* He was the Rams starting QB that made it all the way to the playoffs that year, even when they whipped the Cowboys 20-0 -- thanks to Eric Dickerson's rushing record day and reached the NFL Championship game** Vs. Bears. That, BTW, I think was when our friend Dieter's horns shrunk in front of a great Chicago defense.

Other than that, you might have to call the phone operator to see if DB is listed somewhere, call him up and find out what he's up to. // AlphaRam, did you make a Ram player figure of this QB?

*. Rest assured we did not place DB in our lists of Rams HOF.

**. Picture of that game of which I try not to think of: http://members.tripod.com/~mydamrams/brock.jpg

PS: How about that! I just found that Alpha did make a figurine of QB Brock, No. 5. Right here in the Clan Gallery (http://www.clanram.com/forums/galler...s&searchid=734). Good job Alpha, as always.

the Rams almost had that game in 85 till the end. Chicago didnt really dominate in that game. it was just Rams mistakes that blew it for them.

when you say the bears didnt dominate that game, the rams showed no pulse of any kind offensively in that game. Not that anyone else did in the 85 playoffs against the bears, but our shot to win that game ended when dickerson got stuffed on 4th and 1 at midfield, which was the closest we came to scoring all game.

    Re: What happen to Brock??

you are certainly correct that our defense played well enough to win in that game, but we just had no vertical game and there was no way to beat that bears defense by just running the ball. THey had about 9 guys on the line of scrimmage.

Before the game started (i was in chicago at the time), i remember that special teams was key. Ron Brown was a great return man and that was a bear weakness.

The real question is dose anyone really care what happened to Dieter, other than his appearance on SNL; oh wait, that was the other Dieter.

he was a moment in time in Rams history.Just wanted to see if any older Ram fans remembered him. I remember how they pumped him up as a guy who stayed in the pocket. The problem was he would never find a guy open and stay in the pocket till he got pounded or blind-sided. it gave me fits watching him LOL
