What happened to our great offense
Yes we won and im happy about that but why could we not move the ball.. We started out good i mean real good but just looked bad at times. Our Defense won this game because if the Cards scored TD's everytime the got in the redzone then we would have been hurting. Bulger looked horrid too. I dont know what was wrong with him really. Only good thing i can see from this is that we barely beat the Cards last year and they are suppose to be better this year. But i just hope this Offense does better. Last week they couldnt score in the redzone and this week they could barely get in the redzone. So they need to improve on Offense. Believe it or not. Oh and Warner did do pretty good but what are 300+ yards going to do when you cant score and have multiple turnovers.. i didnt look at all the mistakes Warner made cuz quite frankly, i dont care it is another game to me. I just thought ppl were over with the whole Bulger-Warner discussion...

I'm interested in seeing how they perform on their home turf before I pass judgment.

Re: What happened to our great offense
Yes i under stand that but still what is that going to prove. If we dont get home field though out the playoffs then that is not going to help us. Yes i will wait till they play at home but they dont play everygame at home. They need to get better on the road

Re: What happened to our great offense
If the Rams can go 4-4 on the road this year, they will be in good shape for the playoffs.
Do I want to play at Philadelphia in December? Hell, no. But if they do, they need to be capable of winning, even under those conditions.
We'll see if they are.

Re: What happened to our great offense
Everyone, just wait till the passing game gets used to the running game tempo. Then this offense will be better. I like what I see so far actually. Martz, (well, for Martz anyway) seems to be committed to the run. To win on the road you have to be able to run the ball in this day and age of the NFL. The Rams ran the ball very effectively against the Cardinals. Wow, now that I think about it, playing the first two games on the road with this new type of offense couldn't have played out better for the Rams. The passing game at home has always been effective and now that they have two games under their belt with the running game installed watch out now.

Re: What happened to our great offense
yeah I will admit .. I think we can almost beat anyone at home. Just scares me to see us play such an awfull game ...if it was any other team we would have lost. I am not giving up on them..cuz i know they will get better....well lets hope...

Re: What happened to our great offense
I would much rather have problems on offense. we know we have the talent to find our rhythm and fix those issues as the season progresses. It will really come down to the offensive line anyway.
On defense, we look improved. granted, its early, but i like what i see, especially with kennedy, pickett and claiborne. I am not saying we are the 85 bears, but we are much much better.
Its early, lets see if we can stay in the hunt before we worry about winning anything. One game at a time, we cant afford to spit the bit at home like we did last year against the saints.

Re: What happened to our great offense
Who would have thought that there would be a day that Ram fans would be more concerned about the offense than the defense?
That's a good thing. We all know the offense can come together and perform.
I think this is the week we'll see that, and the Rams will have their first dominating win in a while.

Re: What happened to our great offense
Its great that we won and the front 7 is much better ! But the corners and back (D) Iam really woried about ! If we had played a good football team they would have lite us up ! Granted we did make some plays back there but thats area is going to be a big problem this year very big . Having a new running game should not mean we drop the ball when its in or near the hands . Bulger has in my mind has not looked all that good so far , There is a problem ? (O) looked a little better yesterday not much . the other thing that bugs me is it seems to me that theres not enough high tension in our team , They wait for the ball instead of going after it there were a few plays they did but there are more than just a few plays in the game .. Ive watch and loved our team for more than 45 yrs and they will always that way for me ..But this team has a very long way to go before we can start thinking about DIV. or Playoffs ..We need someone to come in that can be MOTIVATIONAL type of person that can stimulate our team and put some high voltage in the the schem of things . The whiners had voltage look how they moved and we are twice the team they are or the cards , Iam woried not down (Never) just woried ...Martz may know about the game and be great at offense guy but we cant think that years past we where the GREATEST show on truf that we can rely on those days not the same day or team ! !
We still have talent , WE still can play at level that can win if we are at that LEVEL .....GO RAMS

Re: What happened to our great offense
Agree.
With parity in the NFL, just a couple big plays, or a couple of mistakes, makes the difference between a win and a loss.
Also, just plain luck plays a larger role as well (penalties, mistakes, and dropped passes). The difference in 1 play against the Cardinals would have made the difference between a win and a loss.
All things considered, we played better in week 2 as opposed to week 1. The D improved, special teams improved, and the O was acceptable especially with Tucker gone.
Bring on the Titans, but watch out for the trick plays from Fisher.

Re: What happened to our great offense
What happened to our great offense? It went to KC with Dick V. and Al Saunders... (just kidding)... Seriously tho, things change. Warner changed. The o-line changed. The spread of the cover-2 really killed a lot of what made the offense fun. Now instead of scoring in 3 plays the Rams are trying to score in 10-15, and without good team intelligence and discipline, longer drives mean greater possibility of drive-killing mistakes. Martz seems to have lost a lot of his beloved "go for the jugular" approach, which is fine on one hand considering how personnel and coverages have changed. But on the other hand, it's not fine because he has not matched this change in philosophy with results in the discipline category.
The good news is, and as others commented, the Rams seem poised to bust out. The Rams survived the little gift from our "friends" at the NFL scheduling office at 1-1 and are finally at home. If they can put up big numbers against a good defense like Tennessee, things could start rolling.

Re: What happened to our great offense
Football is a complex sport, and as such there's probably not one answer to the question of what happened to our offense. However, having said that, the single biggest factor that I can see is the ever-rolling hands of time. GSOT had an offensive line that averaged 27 years old. That same line (and by same I am 80% literal) is now averaging 33 years old.
At that level of athletic ability, there's quite a bit of deteriation from 27 years to 33 years.

Re: What happened to our great offense
Not to look ahead...but this is a home game we need to win because the following Sunday we are back on the road against a team that gives us fits, the Giants. I would hate to see us limp in there after a crushing loss at home. A must win this week.
