What I saw at the Whiner game

Bulger is over throwing on the long ball. He had Holt twice and missed him. One was 5 yards over thrown and Holt was wide open in the 3rd quarter. That play made me pretty unhappy.

Bruce is open alot on ins and outs. Holt is never really used for ins and outs everything is long.Bruce and Holt as a whole are being used to deep that is not what they do. I noticed they are running 20 yards down the field most the time. Holt and Bruce run routes that is what makes them amazing. They can gain sepeartion over the middle 8-15 yard routes are ideal for them. Bulger also exccels on short quick routes that is Rams football.

Shotgun which I always liked on 3rd and longs actually seem to be throwing off Bulgers rhythym. The snaps were also low and kind of off center. Bulger is not used to this system at all and the whole offense seems bored. They need to turn it up alot. They really need to attack the middle hard. One of the problems the last couple years was everything being pushed too deep it is happening again. The one exception is when they throw those quick hits too Bruce, great for 4th and one. Terrible for 1 and 10. I saw one slant route and it was good for a first down. Lets see more.

Big Joe looked good took a hard hit held onto the ball.

Plain and simple I think Linehans offense is not explosive and he is playing too conservative.I do not think at this point he is utilizing the talent pool he has.

Penalties, way too many.

Defense played good, 2 big plays made up most of the S.F. Offense. The line though needs to get fired back up. It was way too easy for them too push the ball foward with Gore at the end of the game.

Right now I think none of the questions we asked after the Broncos have been answered. Linehan might want to tweak his offensive game plans a little and get alot of player feedback.

All in all it is a long season. I dont think there is any cause for sirens to go off and for everyone to freak out. The boys played on the road vs a division rival.
The whiners showed and up and played with more emotion. Its a loss just one so hopefully the staff learns from it. It is alot easier to see the problems after a loss then after a win. So hopefully the focus will be a little stronger this week.

One thing I have notice that hasn't happened in years is the quick slants that worked so well with Holt and Bruce. Remember the yards after catch that both receivers used to rack up?

I agree that more quick patterns need to be used epically against an aggressive defense.
