Action_Jackson - will become famous soon enough
What is more important for the Rams? O-line or D-line?

Assuming Chris Long goes number 1 to Miami and the Rams dont trade, what is more important for the Rams?

If we take Jake Long, we are going to have a great offensive line that will allow Bulger to hang in the pocket a bit longer, which will allow our recievers to get open. Running lanes will be available for Jackson and the risk of Bulger being hit, hurried or sacked frequently will be a thing of the past. Sounds good doesnt it?

However.... In recent days Glenn Dorsey has jumped many places in the draft and is now being tipped to go to the Rams. When I first seen him I wasnt too keen, but he has impressed and proved his fitness. It may have been a gamble 2-3 weeks ago, but now I really like the idea of adding Dorsey to the defensive line.

A front 4 of

Carriker--Dorsey---Glover--Little

Looks really good.

We'd be able to rush the passer as well as stopping the run (which has been a major problem for us in recent years)

So what is priority? Great o-line? or great d-line?

Re: What is more important for the Rams? O-line or D-line?

well seems we talking OT or DT so out of them two options i go OT..im hoping for DE tho and would take gholston over dorsey due to DE being a position of more need .... Carriker is no longer a DE in a 4-3 and neither dorsey or glover are NT`s...who knows how well healed LL is..

O line. No question. This is the Rams...not the Ravens. We are built to win on offense and to play good enough on defense.

D line- with Haslett's tendency to become a sissy in the second half of games and not blitz, we need 4 guys who can get to the QB or we'll continue to be shredded in the 2nd half of games just like last season.

Exactly. We can find a decent OT in a later round who we can groom to be a good player in the near future. We do need a DE as they don't come around too often, especially as good as Long and Gholston. We need one of the guys there. Whichever is available, its worth a #2 pick.

People claim "what if Gholston isn't as explosive as he was in college?" well being then NFL, what makes them think that Dorsey or Jake Long will be as explosive either? No one knows, and who ever you pick is going to be a risk.

I've seen Gholston run through Jake Long (though he didn't get the sack). Gholston is going to be a beast. And I believe he's worth the #2 pick if Chris Long was taken by Miami.

Jake Long wouldnt be a bad idea either, but its not a need.

D-line By Far... Look At The Giants Front 4 For Instance Last Year... You Have People That Can Reek Havoc All Over The Other Team Qb It Changes Games Period

Most expensive contracts on the Rams:

Marc Bulger
Orlando Pace
Torry Holt
That WR who's name is not to be mentioned in my post

then... Spoon and Little.

So, I ask you.......what's more important to the RAMS? Offense. So O line.

After a 3-13 season, they probably need a new entire team including coaches.

valid point TX, but im thinking Chris Long or Gholston and Gosder Cherilus would be better than Jake Long and say Lawrence Jackson with the first 2 picks.
all those players look like they could be big stars in the NFL tho!

I also see your point, but I'm just going on past history. Actually, that's not a valid point I made. The Rams in the past have tried to draft defensively early just with "little" success. Leonard Little, Kevin Carter, Dre Bly (Rd 2), Tye Hill (book is still out on him) Carriker, Pickett all were good selections but the road is littered with ones that busted and I won't get into that.

Ok, for those looking for a morning libation....

The draft is a crapshoot.

Re: What is more important for the Rams? O-line or D-line?

I had a post somewhere on this board with a "what if we had scored two more TDs per game" scenario.

Result?

9-7.

I say D-line, but if I had to put numbers to it , it'd still be 60/40 D-line to O-line.

Exactly what I was going to say. We have invested heavily in these assest, and we can't afford them to be getting injured due to lack of proctection. OL must be a priority.
